One reason Bay Area rappers aren't wanted by the MAJORS....

I dont know why ya'll are still talking about looks, especially appealing to women. Rappers in the bay don't appeal nationwide, because they aren't nationwide, for the most part! They gotta sell albums locally! and shit, i have yet to find a girl who buys bay area albums, not bootlegged or burnt shit, outside of this board! so for bay area rappers, girls arent the ones purchasing their album. I am. and the music is what's appealing to me, obviously.
well i dunno about others but i was speaking on these rappers to go beyond their regional market and "blow up" than just appealing to the people around their way. if rappes are tired of where they are and want to go to the next level, they have to look into things what are factors to be in worldwide status
Just my opinion. Lived in Frisco and San Jo back in the 80's and 90's and saw bay (partically San fran and pennisula) get off the ground
It sounds like the bay is doing the same things they did in the 90's to succeed. Yall cats need a change in location but still rep the bay and new location.
Bay rappers need to branch (move) out by themselves into untapped regions/areas to get exposure. Prime example, Masta P. P lefted the bay after getting a buzz with unda comp album. His beats like most bay beats fit right in with the south. He didnt wait for a Major to come save em. He probably knew that the south had a lyrical void, since Miami bass music was the only thing poppin in the south during the early 90's. Plus, its less expensive to set up operations in the south compared to the bay. #1 reason alot of bay rappers arent financially well off -bay is too damn expensive.
My suggestion would be to test the waters in somewhere like orlando florida/central florida. Reason: no competition (last hottest thing to come of Orlando - Tampa was DJ Magic Mike and Kia -My neck my back fame-even she was from ohio), large fan base (lots of young white kids bored of commerical and lousy local acts) looking for local star on a national level, entertainment venues Disney, Daytona spring break only an 1hr away, and other theme parks and alot of clubs (E-40 recently headlined a show somewhere in the boon docks of Fort Laud- if he could get a show why not quinn, messy or nickatina-again, alot of hungry white fans), Miami - official hip hop city- awards shows, videos..ect nearby, The Bahamas, only 50 mile away (heard B-legit entire album and done deal album being played during our last hurricane on a bahamas station). Believe it or not, people know about alot of bay artists. Florida is a gold mine for up and coming artist. Why do you think why all these rappers are moving down here (that just the first wave). Why cant bay rap industry set up shop here too and still have cred back inthe bay.
Big reason why yall cats should set up shop here is to give wack artists like Trick daddy some comp. Trick, Trina, jackie o are the only cats reppin florida 15 million potential soundscans not including the cat who come down here for school and vacation. they need some comp.
Hope yall dont take my idea as critizism but take it as business advice. YOu could eat off florida and the caribbean alone.

This is the reason. There is no "machine" to create the hype for a bay artist. We have the talent, chrisma, all the shit, but not the marketing structure. The originator of this thread is so off, when mentioning chrisma, people form the bay got game, chrisma, and charm on lock! That is what the fuck people like about us! If you travel, people will say, they don't necessarily now what they like about bay cats, we just hella cool.
People keep talking about how many like its the artist fault they are not on majors. Are they supposed to scarfice fame and sales for bad deals? As chuck how many deals he has turned down to stay independent. This is upseting me because people start these threads to get a response and understanding without asking a question. If the majors had everything figured out would any artist ever flop? They have these same arguments, and come up with different conclusions.
The issue isn't being on a major, because even independent labels can grow. The issue is getting more visibility for the artist we have. If I'm not mistaken the DD events are the only way for local cats to get on a stage in one of the worlds most popular cities. Its great for the promoter
but there need to be more ways to get out there. No tv shows, radio is getting better, no magazines, nothing besides the music is dedicated to promoting us.And niggaz who would hate if chuck got upset if people hatin on Quinn. I'm upset, cause yall be saying shit with out backing it up. Chuck believes in his artist so he is defending him from his heart and backs the shit up with facts, hell the whole city belive in that nigga. So how can you come on here basically insulting, not constructive critisim, insulting him? People is open to suggestion, but hatin is uncalled for.
