Wasn't their plan to build around Monta and Biedrins?
Thats my understanding.......But IMO Monta should not be considered a player the warriors should build around.....Biedrins Cool.....He's young and Talented.....Monta is 2 but......He is no point gaurd.....He has a sub par jumper......All he does is attack the rim.... he does attack it like no other but still nothing to build around.......We should have kept baron.....Not sighned magette and or ellis to that long term deal and saved some money for the class of 2010

What do you base that (in red) on?

His midrange game is part of the reason why he gets the opportunities to go to the rack like he does. It's coming back, slowly but surely

FROM WHAT I'VE SEEN....RANDOLPH HAS THE BEST "POTENTIAL"(LOOK IT UP)...ON THE WARRIORS...YOU'LL SEE WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT IN THE FUTURE....HE IS ONLY 19 & HAS A LOT 2 LEARN BUT HIS ENRGY IS WHAT SEPERATES HIM FROM THE REST...& HE ACTUALLY PLAYS HARD DEFENSE....I STARTED LIKING AZUBUIKE MORE 2....BUT MONTA DEFINITELY NEEDS 2 STEP IT UP....HE THREW AWAY THE GAME AGAINST THE LAKERS & I WAS SUPRISED THEY WENT 2 A ELLIS ISOLATION PLAY 2 TIMES STRAIGHT...HE'S NOT KOBE...HE MAY BE BACC 2 REGULAR FORM BY THE END OF THE SEASON...RIGHT NOW HIS COURT PRESENCE IS NOT THERE....& HIS D IS NOT THE SAME

Monta had the most consistant jumpshot on the team last season. Give him some time to get back to form. I dont understand why Nelly played him 45 mins against the Lakers though, he wasn't affective at all.

As for Randolph I been saying he would be a star before the season even started...you could see his potential in the summer league.

So Joey, I'm going to assume you didn't follow the Warriors last year if you're questioning Monta's jumper
I did follow every step of the way......I understand he can shoot the Mid Range J.....He's nice from out there......But as of late i havent seen it....I understand he just got back....But still......I just feel we should get rid of him and see what we can get....Even with him being at the top of his game.....He is not something to build a franchise around...

Let me ask you.......Do you think we can win a championship with the team we have right now??? When Ellis is at the top of his game and everythings clicking........As for the 2-3 year thing(if you bring up the future) ......Capt jack is not getting younger.....and Maggette will probably be broken by then........

Why not see what you can get with Monta there once he's 100% (assuming he gets back to 2008 form). If you don't think the team as it is can contend, what makes you think what you'd get in return for Monta is going to make you an immediate contender??

The Warriors problem is that they play to the level of their competition every night. They're in every game for the most part no matter who it is. It's a bad thing when it's the THUNDER but a good thing when it's Boston, Cleveland and LA. And they're not even at full strength.

You guys and your infinite loop of desired instant gratification :cheeky:

Instant Gratification..........Boston did it.......Got tired of losing and made power moves........

You still have not answered my question.....Can they win a championship with the same team next year when everyone is healthy????

OAKLAND

IT'S NOT ABOUT this season. That's what Warriors fans should keep telling themselves, especially after heartbreaking losses like Wednesday night's 129-121 collapse against the Los Angeles Lakers in front of 20,007 at Oracle Arena.

As overly optimistic as it may sound, the Warriors' future might actually have bright spots, if we're to believe the Lakers' stars. The compliments doled out to the Warriors in the opposing locker room seemed quite sincere, although perhaps a bit overboard in one instance.

That instance: When Lakers forward Lamar Odom said Warriors rookie Anthony Randolph has Hall of Fame potential. Whoa. That's big-time praise for a kid who coach Don Nelson stowed away on the bench most of the first half in this lost season.

Randolph recorded his third career double double (14 points, 12 rebounds) on Wednesday night for the Warriors, who suffered their 36th loss in 55 games.

* * * Randolph, Hall of Famer in waiting * * *

"It's like looking in the mirror a little," Odom said of Randolph. "He's also 6-11 (actually, they're both listed at 6-foot-10), he's left-handed and he can put the ball on the floor. He's two times as athletic as I was at that age.

"He should set his goals high. He has All-Star potential, Hall of Fame potential, with that size, his ability to put the ball on the floor, he can shoot the three, he can pass. If he stays focused, the sky is the limit for him."

Randolph played Odom pretty physically during the night, even going for a brief ride on Odom's back while vying for a rebound midway through the third quarter. Randolph said playing against Odom gave himself a peak into the future "to see what I can do once I get more experienced in the game."

"He's a great player, and someone I looked up to growing up," said Randolph, adding that their in-game chatter was all "fun and games."

Even more praise for Randolph came from Nelson: "I hope he continues doing what he's doing to stay out on the floor. In practice, he's staying out of trouble and doing what he does best, and when he does that, we're going to play him more and more."

Guess that means Randolph won't be traded before Thursday's deadline. Phew. Wouldn't want to lose another future Hall of Famer (see: Parrish, Robert).

Randolph was modest after the game: "I just try to come out and play hard, like I have the last couple games. I've got to keep working hard and remember how it was at the beginning of the season."

As for losing, he added: "We had the game won. It was just some things down the stretch. We're a young team and we just have to fight through it."

* * * Kobe loves him some Monta * * *

Randolph scored only two of his 14 points in the fourth quarter. Stephen Jackson delivered just six of his 24 points in that period. So who was the Warriors' go-to guy? The plan was for Monta Ellis to step into that role, regardless of whether he's a point guard, a shooting guard or a surgically repaired guard.

Ellis couldn't come through down the stretch, unless missed shots and untimely turnovers were what you wanted from him.

"We wanted to get the ball into Monta's hands in the second half more," Nelson said. "I don't know if he's ready to do all that."

Ah, but Ellis does have one huge fan who happens to be the NBA's best player, Lakers guard Kobe Bryant.

"He's phenomenal. He's one of my favorites in the league to watch," Bryant said of Ellis. "He's explosive."

Still, even after the offseason accident that shredded his left ankle?

"He's still explosive," Bryant responded. "I don't care what people say up here. They're not guarding him. He is quick. He can elevate, finish at the rim and he can shoot. I'm really excited to see him develop as his career goes on."

* * * Kobe on this year and beyond * * *

The Lakers improved to a wicked 44-10 with Wednesday night's comeback. Their winning formula: "We just kept our poise and stuck to doing what we do best."

That might be defense, considering how they absolutely suffocated the Warriors in the fourth quarter.

Asked if this game showed how the Warriors miss Baron Davis' ability to deliver in the clutch, Kobe said no.

"Stephen's made a lot of big shots against us, too, even when Baron was here," Bryant said. "With them, it's a matter of playing together. This year is a down year. They've got talent. They're going to make noise in the west, and the west is crazy."

Injury note for Kobe lovers: He took a "couple chunks" out of his left thumb when he caught it on the rim trying to block a Corey Maggette shot. Kobe finished with 30 points, the 15th time he's reached that plateau this season.

from reading all your recent posts in this thread, i conclude your a dipshit.

Monta is good, he couldnt particapate in practices or summer league for several months and pretty much came back after like 3 weeks of practice into games. he is still rusty as would anyone be. his jumper was automatic, he shot over 50% in fg's in the month of feburary last year there were only like 2 other guards in the history of the nba to shoot a % like that for an entire month. he does get a lot of easy layups but he was still knockin down his jumpers, cus he aint a 3 point shooter. he's not going to take over games and win them like a kobe or lebron but he is a great compliment player. all he needs is a big body next to him either at the PG or SF position. and his contract is pretty reasonable based on his production. and really who would trade for him at the deadline this year or in the offseason. most teams who would be interested want to know that he can still play first. i think he will be fine next year becuase all that pressure of his contract and injury will be behind him.

and for boston making a power move please. it was a good deal but minnesota wanted to get rid of KG and everyone wanted in on him, just so happend that boston had the right contracts and players (Al Jefferson, Ryan Gomes) and picks that interested the Twolves more then any other offer out there. and they got ray allen for sczerbiak i think. so they didnt do anything amazing, they just had the right shit at the right time which is rare as fuck.

no the warriors cant win a championship with this roster, neither could 26 other teams with their rosters. there are only 4-5 power teams in the nba (LA, Bos, Clev, San Antonio) and they have great coaching and have superstars on their teams with solid role players and benches. It's hard to win a championship in the nba so making hte playoffs consistently is good enough for any warrior fan. championships are hard to get, ask barkley and ewing and others who never won a championship.

How the hell would I know when next year aint here yet?

I don't do predictions because you don't know what can happen.

Consider the circumstances (those we know about and those we don't know about) surrounding those moves that put Boston where they are. It's not like every team can just do that and win the next year. If that was the case, why isn't every team doing that??
