(the following are three separate, but related pieces)
Jamal Crawford will be a DNP-CD for the Warriors on Friday, Stephen Jackson will sit out on Sunday against Utah and Andris Biedrins will get the night off on Friday against the Pistons.
Corey Maggette also has a missed game coming, but Don Nelson hasn't said when. Nelson will eventually retire, but until that day comes, fantasy owners will have to continue to live with this kind of lunacy. The attached column from Tim Kawakami is a must-read if you own any Warriors.
Jamal Crawford's agent, Aaron Goodwin, is not happy at the prospect of Crawford being benched for Friday's game against Charlotte.
"What is the message that Don Nelson is sending to a young team? 'Don't play to win?' " Goodwin said. "What is the message he is sending to the fans who work hard to pay for Warriors tickets in order to see them win?" Adding fuel to the fire is the fact that Crawford dropped 50 points on the Bobcats earlier this season, and everyone, especially his fantasy owners, would like to see him get the chance to do it again. Nellie could change his mind about playing JC tonight, but it would actually be surprising to see him play at this point.
Coach Don Nelson plans to bench Jamal Crawford on Friday in favor of "younger guards," according to the Contra Costa Times.
Crawford has taken the benching professionally, which appears to be the Warriors not-so-subtle way of telling him that he isn't in their long-term plans. Crawford's agent wasn't so kind, saying, "I totally disagree with this." Nelson likely chose to bench Crawford because he was less likely to put up a stink, but after his agent's comments it won't be as easy to do that.
