Oakland Woman Hit By Stray Bullet While Sleeping Dies

A 21-year-old woman was pronounced dead at a hospital Wednesday after suffering a gunshot wound to the head just before midnight Monday in a drive-by shooting in Oakland, the Alameda County coroner's bureau reported.
Shaneice Moniesha Chanel Davis of Oakland was found suffering a life-threatening gunshot wound to the head in an apartment in the 8200 block of MacArthur Boulevard when officers were canvassing the area after a shooting was reported one block away, according to Oakland Police officer Roland Holmgren.
Davis was transported to Highland Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 2:55 p.m. Wednesday, according to the coroner's bureau.
Police received reports of the shooting in the 8300 block of MacArthur Boulevard at 11:58 p.m. Monday and arrived to find three injured victims who were attending a memorial service for someone who died in the car accident in 2005, Holmgren said.
Those three victims were also transported to hospitals and reportedly remained in stable condition, according to Holmgren.
