I was talking to Ron Rivera's brother this morning when I heard the news. I was a little steamed, and so was Ron's brother because he says Rivera wants out because Chicago does not pay. SD was a good opportunity and they were led to believe the Chargers wanted a defensive-minded coach.. But he also said Ron Rivera is good friends with Norv and Norv may consider bringing him in to be the DC, but then I heard on KNBR that Norv was thinking of Cotrell.. Who knows what the fuck is going on.

Norv was the only one with head coaching experience among the candidates SD chose, but his experiences have been bad ones. I don't understand this move. I understand why Norv took the job, but I now think he is a bitch for saying all the things he said about how it's great to be in SF, then turn around and leave. Fuckin dickhead motherfucker.

When will people, including Norv, learn that he is a great OC, but a fuckin terrible head coach????

THE RAIDERS CHANCES IN THE AFC WEST JUST GOT A HELL OF A LOT BETTER AND THE NINERS WELL... THEY MIGHT JUST GO 4-12 AGAIN..

CAN'T SAY I'M DISAPPOINTED!

LOL!

Watch the Raiders only score 48 points, while their defense dominates the league, leading them to a 1-15 record. Don't warry Fatal, There's always Greg Knapp haha. I think we'll be alright.

who would you have in mind? if you look at the people they interviewed, he is the only one with head coach expierence......plus its not about being an upgrade over marty, that shit is over with. For the last time, Marty gave the chargers no choice but to fire him, its like he wanted out and did everything in his power to get out
I dunno maybe yall could've talked Cowher out of retirement. If its not about upgrading then why even get rid of what you already have. I see this move as a step backwards. I think SD should still win atliest 10 games based on talent regardless of the coach but I dont see Norv being better than Marty in the playoffs.

even if they talked him out of retirement they still would have had to give the steelers something for him

1. The raiders are garbage and will not beat the Chargers either time next season, no matter who coaches San Diego.

and

2. The loss of Norv Turner was a big one, but as long as they get a decent OC (it doesn't even have to be a real good one) they can feed him Norv's style.. Basically, as long as the guy knows how to call run plays, the Niners will be fine. They will continue to progress offensively as their young talent gains experience in the league.

Your squad on the other hand..

Fuck it, we both know what's gonna happen. You'd be lucky to see a 4-12 record.

I think the Raiders have a way better chance of doing better in the division. Just because San Diego has a good team doesnt mean that you can go ahead and stick anybody in the hc posistion. Norv had a good team in Washington a few years back, and what did they do?????UNDERACHIEVED. Yeah Norv is a good X's and O's guy, but his leadership skills are shitty. He should've stayed as an OC. Bottom line, he's just an underachiever as a head coach. This move might end up hurting both SD and SF.

The Raiders will atleast win one out of two games against SD next year. So what, we had the worst season in franchise history last season, this is the NFL and we can turn this team around in a season or two (ie Grudden). Kiffin is a good X's and O's guy, I just want to see if he can lead this team to a winning season. I can't see into the future, but I have a feeling we're going to do better than 4-12.

So just put the ball into Gore's hands right? You'll guys will need more than someone who can call run plays. Gore is a great rb, but don't become a one deminsional offense. You'll need a coordinator that has the ability to create mismatches and take advantage of the passing game. Just an average OC? Heard Jon SHoop is available.

Thats kind of the feeling people have around here...no one really likes the decision. Norv is bringing in Ted Cotrell to be the dc and people are more excited about that. I think at the decision also had alot to do with the fact that we dont have an oc. we promoted our running backs coach whom has no coordinator expierence. Norv will call the plays, Cotrell will take care of the defense. Norv doesnt have to do too much other than not screw up...we'll see what happens...I know the chargers offensive players have come out and said they are extremely happy with the desicion

You put the ball into Gore's hands to set up the pass. In case you were unaware, that is Norv Turner's system. Whoever they bring in can easily do the same.. You pound the ball, and if you have a good Running Back, it will open things up for the passing game. The thing we will miss is Norv's work with young talent, IE Alex Smith. He knows how to get these guys ready to be great players in the NFL. Hopefully they learned enough in one season under Norv to guide them to success. It's obvious Alex Smith is going to be the one hurting in all of this, but I honestly think they'll be OK. It would have been much easier for them if Norv had stuck around, but I don't see them stopping their progression.

And Shoop is not even an "average" coordinator, he's garbage.

Yeah you can find a coordinator an say here's Norv's playbook, doesn't mean your going to have the same success. Obviously running sets up the pass, but Norv was good at creating perssonel match-ups that he took advantage of in the passing game. Every coordinator has there own philosophy on how to do things, you can give them Norvs system but it won't be Norv running it. He was also good at developing young players, he drafted Walter in hope of developing him, but we fired him before he was able to do anything with him. So I do agree that Smith is the one being hurt the most by this. Just have to wait and see how the upcoming season develops.
