Raiders out of Culpepper chase?
<Mar. 11> According to ESPN.com's John Clayton, the Vikings tried to put a Friday night deadline on a trade of Culpepper, but no deal has yet to be finalized. Three teams were in the supposed final bidding -- the Raiders, Dolphins and Titans, but the Raiders dropped out when they heard the price was going to be a second-round choice.
Vikings owner Zygi Wilf did acknowledge on Friday that Minnesota was holding discussions with other teams. Earlier this week, the 29-year-old challenged the Vikings to trade him or release him in an e-mail sent to various media outlets.
"Daunte Culpepper stated he would like to be traded or released, and right now we're addressing the situation," Wilf told the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. "That's all I can say."
A high-ranking Dolphins source told the Miami Herald that Miami had not worked out a deal for Culpepper, although he admitted that there had been extensive talks initiated by the Vikings.
One team distancing itself from Culpepper is the Ravens. According to the Baltimore Sun, the Ravens are not in the running for the Minnesota quarterback.
Arizona, Detroit and the New York Jets have also been mentioned as potential landing spots.
