"CB Nnamdi Asomugha has left practice with an apparent knee injury," the team wrote on Twitter. "He has been taken by cart into locker room."

NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora reported on "NFL GameDay Morning," citing a team source, the Eagles currently are evaluating the severity of the injury, according to a team source.

The source said not much is known of the extent of any damage at this time. Practice currently is ongoing, and coach Andy Reid is still on the field.

Reid is scheduled to meet the media after practice.

The injury was sustained to Asomugha's left knee, according to Sirius/XM Radio.

An injury to Asomugha would be a tremendous blow to a squad fighting to get back in the playoff hunt and already beset with injuries to cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, quarterback Michael Vick and wideouts Jeremy Maclin and DeSean Jackson. Rodgers-Cromartie missed last week's win over the New York Giants with a high ankle sprain.

The Eagles host the New England Patriots on Sunday.
