So i need to get new tires for my car. So i was calling around checking out prices for my tire size and most of the places asked if i wanted used tires or new tires.

What would be the point of buying a used tire? I'm guessing it would be cheaper but is it worth it anyone know?

I've had used tires on my bucket. There just retreaded and are hella cheaper. It's usually when I needed just one and shit. If you got a nice car don't go used. Unless you're in a budget crunch.

used tires are not rethreaded, those are called rethreaded tires. and they are mostly for big heavy duty work trucks. used tires are just that, they are used. like when someone gets rims and the old tires come off they sell them. or if someone just wants new tires and there is still enough thread left on the rubber they will sell them.

they are cheaper but are only a temporary fix becuase they will get bald quick.

Well if you buy used tires with say 80 or 90% tread left you will get a pretty good deal as tires, like cars, lose a lot of value after they become "used" i.e. go off the auto lot

on my old car i got used tires...it cost like $75 for 2, and they lasted over a year and had plenty of tread left

I just bought some really nice Yokohama tires for my ride to fit on my 17's at some random "Llantera" shop, $30 bucks a piece used. Good thread still.

You have to go with the Mexicans when it comes to used tires.

find the tires you want for your car then call around and find the lowest price. i remember i worked at a tire shop and the dude had me call around for the lowest price of tires for this one size. big o and all the name stores were expensive as fuck, america tire company is the cheapest big name spot. but lots of local mom and pop tire companies will give you a better deal.

This should be in the Auto forum...Anyway, the general rule is, you should get the best tires you can afford. As far as bigger name companies America's Tire Company (aka Discount Tires) is reasonable and usually very nice. As far as used tires they usually come with a 30 day limited warranty, you can visually tell if the tire is ok or not, many times the used tire theyre selling are from cars people got rims for, or full size spares people didnt want, they are often a good value. I recently bought a used tire for my girlfriends Infiniti, the new tires were $97 each, the used one was $27. I would say if you can get a 30 day warranty go for the used tires.

Tire Rack for new tires... or Craigslist for used tires...

Tire Shops usually want too much for used tires.... and they are not that good that's why they were traded in...:ermm:

Craigslist you can find factory take offs when people BUY MY RIMS :knockout:

I mean really...if you give a fuck about the car..(i.e: tryin to sell it or want 4 of the same tires, or just like lookin good)...go for new tires....

but if you dont, get used.

They might try and dick you and give you some bullshit if you go the used route(like givin you the ones with less tread) but just remember that you can always pick them out yourself....

They always should dip them in water tho to make sure there are no holes.
