Pretty Phat
Actually the song is pretty PHAT. The J.D. produced track does sound like some eary Mike Mosely or Ric Rocc type of production, like some early "Da Bumble" type production from the "In A Major Way" days with a little CRUNK sound added. E-40 though has choosen to step away from that production sound and try to grow. Most people still like the E-40 "In A Major Way" album the best out of any of his releases, GROWN MEN MAKE GROWN MEN CHOICES!
Also I want to say, don't hate on Murphy Lee for picking a HOT track and spittin' some REAL LIFE/GUTTER lyrics and having people support it. St. Louis happens to "TRULY" support it's artists and you can't be mad about that. That is what the California Bay Area (man I love the Bay) needs to do the same thing and start buying music from Bay Area artists. If you want San Quinn, Messy Marv, Jacka, or A-Wax to blow up then you need to go out and buy their albums. Just think if every person who has viewed a post left by Done Deal on this Forum went out and bought a San Quinn album that would be some nice SoundScan numbers, now just think if every person that bought a San Quinn album called up Chuck and Done Deal and asked for Flyers and Stickers to go hand out on their own personal time to Malls, Barber Shops, Junior College Campus' or High Schools. Wouldn't that help a BAY AREA artists career, but NO ONE wants to do that, but they want to complain about other regions and other artists not from the Bay Area selling major units.
If you want to see the Bay Area blow up and get the attention it deserves then go out and "BUY" Bay Area music. San Quinn can't BLOW UP when he is only moving 5,000 units of a GREAT album like "The Mighty Quinn". The album was promoted, he got radio air play, the Bay Area was talking about the album, but you music buying fans didn't go out and buy it. You hurt us right there, you hurt San Quinn right there. Then you complain!
Also artists are hurting themselves. E-40, and Yukmouth are the Biggest artists from the Bay Area at this time, and they can garner attention from NATIONAL magazines, and both can obtain nice promotional dollars from their labels. Why hasn't E-40 or Yukmouth formed a group with the young and upcoming artists like San Quinn, Messy Marv, Jacka or A-Wax. A group album with any one of those young artists would move units and would garner attention from the Bay Area rap buyers, an album like that would burn up retail, and bring SOME attention to the Bay Area. Picture in your Head E-40 & San Quinn the group, or picture Yukmouth & A-Wax the group!!!!
All that said "EVERYONE" on the Siccness should go out and buy SAN QUINN "THE MIGHTY QUINN" album today (you know you all got pay checks yesterday) and see what happens on Billboard next week. There are THOUSANDS of people on the Siccness and you THOUSANDS of people going out and buying and supporting the same album will bring attention HOME! Think about it! Now be about it!
