New Isis cd "In the Absence of Truth" to be released on Oct. 31st

Isis has quickly become one of my favorite bands so I'm really anticipating this new album a lot. I don't know if there are many fans of them on here but I would highly recommend you check them out. Their sound is a mix of post-rock, progressive and post metal for the most part...they are a pretty broad sounding band though. They are on tour with Tool right now and while they don't sound anything alike really Tool fans should give them a listen...I think you will like them a lot. Anyways here is some info. on the new album.

The album expands upon the group's previous full length, Panopticon, further exploring lead singer Aaron Turner's clean vocals (though his former techniques more related to screaming and growling are still present as well). Musically, the album is dynamic, ranging from extended musical ambience to almost tribal drumming. Isis continue writing lengthy songs in comparison to mainstream bands; Absence is in fact Isis' longest CD, clocking in at 64 minutes. The album also seems likely it will connect with Isis's past legacy of concept albums, wherein some of the lyrics (such as "She was his queen" from Dulcinea) relate to past themes. Turner has confirmed the presence of a concept: "I won't say what the concept is, but I can give you some clues about what inspired it: Hassan-i-Sabbah, the Islamic mystic cult leader, (Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra's) Don Quixote, (Mark Z. Danielewski's) House of Leaves, and (Jorge Luis Borges') Labyrinths." - Rock Sound interview with Isis.

The album is being put out on Mike Patton's (Faith No More, Mr. Bungle,etc) Ipecac Recordings.

I guess it already leaked on to the net but I'm going to wait until it drops to listen to anything other than the song they released on myspace. I have a feeling this is going to be their best album to date.

Most people agree on calling them Atmospheric Sludge.
They got boring to me pretty fast.

^^^ Hmmmm well that sucks about people saying it's their weakest album to date. I like the new song they got up their myspace a lot. Old Man Gloom is sick too. I like Isis better though.

@ Smurf - I heard one song by Windmills by the Ocean and I didn't think it was too bad. It wasn't really anything great but it wasn't terrible either. Didn't make me too excited to hear anymore songs though.

Oh shit I just saw them open for Tool exactly 1 week ago from today. They kicked ass, i hadnt even heard of them before that. They had the shit rocking pretty hard. Opening for Tool is no joke, must be nerve wracking

You should check them out Psilo I think you would dig them. They are a great band IMO. I like all their stuff and the new song I heard sounds amazing. The other two assholes in this thread disagree with me though lol Just kidding guys.

I listened to the 4 songs on their myspace and i could definitely see myself listening to most of them when im chilling out yet in a rock mood. I dont have that much chiller rock to choose from. They still get hard sometimes though which is good

If you like them you should check out Red Sparowes. It's all instrumental and has memebers of Isis, Neurosis and a few other bands in it. It's great stuff. You should check out some Post-Rock if you haven't...I love the stuff and I think you would too.
