Yeah, I dig what you're saying...major labels are cool in the sense that they can help get you major exposure, and they can afford to spend a lot to promote your CD, etc. But the downside is that because the majors are spending "X" amount of dollars, they expect to see that amount of money paid back to them, and of course that comes right out of the money from the artists' sales. The artist essentially has to "pay back" the company whatever amount of $$$ that was spent on him-or-her BEFORE getting any cash themselves. If Cube can make back the amount of money he presumably spent to make this CD and put it out, maybe it'll encourage other artists to try the same thing w/ their CDs.

for the record that wasnt a diss against my bay area peoples cuz i bought the album and dig it for the most part....B Legit is actually in my top 5 favorites but the shit did flop

Cube's shit, is the best album of the year to me, and I like E-40's shit too. But content, lyric wise, and production ain't nothin' touchin' Cube's shit IMO. He came wit' it. He's always been in my top 5, and this album confirmed it. And it all depends on what mind frame you're in. If you like goin' stupid, or strictly gang bangin', and senseless shit then you'll like other shit, but if you think on another level, you'll like Cube's shit, and some of E-40's shit, cuz 40 is hella intelligent too with game. Those are two very successful dudes that have businesses outside of rap, and I love to support niggaz like that, and I want to see them succeed! So it ain't no Bay vs. So Cal shit with me. Just good music from people who have the "content" that I want to hear. I hope Cube and 40 go platinum!
