No New Bay. No old Bay.

Just the dead Bay. Not because of lack of talent but because of lack of support form the media including the Source, KMEL,

On that same note, I don't blame those companies because for every 3 projects or artists that are hot, we have 30 that are not.

There is no solution to this problem. Check the history of rap, it happened in the late 1970's and early 90's. Survival of the fittest.

LL Cool J is 17 years in it and still successful. Dr. dre is approaching 20 years. 2Pac is 15 in even though he has passed on. Puffy is 15 in it. Do the math. Some people just got passed over. It happens.

I like tight shit regardless of it's "status" of being new or old.

Check out Black C's new album. One of the best he ever made. Jay Tee is on Universal now. Baby Bash is on Universal. Mr. Kee is way tighter than his first album. Balance got people looking at him. E40 is still on a major. Mac Dre keeps coming with shit. Keak and Quinn got majors looking at them all the time.

Yeah we have to step up our game but we also have to step up our business side. Think about it.

I love the Bay. I love the foundation as well as as the new generation of talent out here. Music and business evolve. Accept the conditions move forward or fall off. B-12's right there is no solution. All I know is this. The term New Bay sounds like an attempt to seperate yourselves from the pack. The Bay cant be a force if we're seperated. It only shows weakness. If you aint out for the Bay dont represent it.

Exactly!!! The Bay Area radio is absolutely the hardest in the nation to recieve radio play on. Big Mack was telling me how his record was playing in Seattle, Arizona, Portland, and other West Coast locations and Clear Channel won't give his shit the time of day. You talk about cats that been in the game deep, Big Mack was the most poppin artist in frisco in 89...Shit its jus so sad to see these "old bay cats" that some feel need to retire, with so much talent and almost no support...

Big Chill, one minute you say study LL COOL J and then the next you big-up a cat that dissed um-Canibus. Plus alot of them old cats had ghost writers pen they shit(as they got older cheak the credits)- I don't want to be like that. People talk about how Dre still in the game strong, but shit he fa damn show ain't writin his raps and he ain't maken alot of the tracks that his name is on-it's a young cat. I respect them and what they have done, but I want to do me and not just ride the pioneers coat tails. We (in the Bay) are the only people that have a problem wit liten new music and styles enter the game. What I notice is that other areas can have old and new artist trive at the same time-not the Yay. Ny Jay-Z is doin his thing and now...50 is. Scareface is still doin his thang in Houston, but so is Lil Flip, shit (like somebody else said) I don't see nobody in the South complainin about THE NEW SOUTH...it is embraced. Take ATL they got Luda, Lil Jon, Outcast and JD all doin totaly different shit, but doin well. Insteed of shitin on new cats for havin the balls to try to start sumthin new out here in a (record sales based, media represented) dead zone let um try and if it don't work ohh well back to da lab. The funny thing is listen to Quinn, 40, SKI, Messy, ect they music ain't the same as it was in 95-they have grown wit the times and so should the rest of the Bay.

true talk^^^...to add some more talk, these people that "diss" the new bay are also the same bay who say "fuck the radio" for not playing bay shit, and they are also the same ones who wonder why the bay isnt big. Not getting enough love from the fans combining with little/no radio/videoplay equals little money, rap wise.

People will never realize that to blow up, u need to get full love or enough of it, and then it will spread.

JUST BECAUSE LL DISSED CANIBUS DONT MEAN CANIBUS CANT RAP.IM NOT ONE OF THOSE CATS THAT STOP LIKEN CANIBUS BECAUSE LL DISSED HIM.

YOU DONT HAVE TO RIDE THERE (OLD SCHOOL)COAT TAILS.I WAS MAINLY GETTIN AT THE FACT THAT THERE WAS SO MUCH DIFFRENT TALENT IN THOSE DAYS.THEY WASNT ALL ON THE SAME SHIT.

E-40 AND TOO SHORT ALL THE OTHER FEW RAPPERS THAT ARE HANGIN ON BECAUSE THEY KNOW HOW TO PICK THE RIGHT PRODUCTION.AND NOBODY OUT THE BAY CAME WIT SHIT LIKE THEY HAVE.......THERE STILL DIFFRENT FROM THE REST.

IM NOT HATEN ON THE -NEW BAY- AT ALL FOR WHAT YALL IS DOIN!!!I WISH YALL THE BEST AND LIKE I SAID I MIGHT JUST BE GETTIN OLD OR SOMETHING....LOL.

ITS JUST SOMETHING DONT SEEM RIGHT WIT THIS NEW MUSIC COMMIN OUT.I LISTEN TO IT TWICE AND THREE TIMES AND DONT BOTHER TO EVER AGAIN!!!!!!MUSIC THESE DAYS HOLD NO SUBSTANCE.

"i remember when we all used to agree on what we geared toward
it sucks cus it's always the best who forget what we here for
we all excelled cus our hero's failed us
now we frail, what happened to the days when they would hail us?"

I think its cuz most bay rappers dont have millions of dollars to put in PR... Look at 50 cent, no one had heard of him , then all of the sudden he's the hottest rapper around, and it happened overnight. If he's so tight then why didnt any of his albums sell? Once he was signed to Shady/Aftermath he had the backing to get play, and to push units... MC skills have nothing to do with getting played anymore, everyone knows that. You have to have an appeal these days, and it seems like the Bay just hasnt figured out their appeal yet, Bash did it, and now a lot of people are callin him a sellout, its because he didnt make a "Bay" album... E-40, put out a banger with Breakin News, got a lot of exposure, but didnt sell East Coast units... I remember when they premiered quarterbackin on 106, and when they asked the audience what they thought they were sayin... "It was aight, but Clipse is hot!!!" Great song, but 40 gets outshined by his feature because Clipse are established now... lol, that was the last time I saw that video on 106...

My $.02

its not the -bay- sound anymore....its about makin good music period.when the -bay- start makin some good music and not just rap the same shit 3 verses and a hook and hurry up and jump to the next song,i bet record labels will run back this way!!!!!!one person cant do it by his self. its going to take a team of talented rappers and some (or one) really good producer(s).everybody got a record label.......hit up records.....g records....mob kill records.......the bay needs that one record label that has alot of talent......meaning, off the hook singer,a few rappers that has a lot more things to rap about, and a sick ass producer. the studio play a big part off this rap shit too......not just beats and rappin, when you done rappin just sit back and ask youself, what can i do to this song to make it even better!!!!!!!

^^^The Alliance has that package...

singer- PB (GAS)
rappers- cane, NH, arsen, mdash, mann mann, YB, etc.
Producers- Davey D, Rodzilla

MDD has it too...

singer- Mike Marshall
rappers- Nickatina, Shagg Nasty, Smoov-E...
Producer- Nick Peace... IMO the best in the business right now

Its just you need that little push to get your shit out there, and right now its pretty hard to get one in the bay right now... There's not enough support to get shit circulating...

I think that this is what's cool about this site, as an artist I'ma do me, but I want to talk wit cats who ain't rappers or who are rappers wit different opinions then mines. When I read between the lines I don't see cats dissin The New Bay...I see more cats frustrated wit the fact that as a region we ain't gettin our respect out here. I'll be the first to say that alot of artist abroad have skipped substance and started tryin to make the next "hot" song or single so substance takes a backseat in that case. But we hope to bring a balance of both with our music.

PEACE-

Respect the game, who put the NEW BAY on the map? Short, E-40, Celly Cel, Ant Banks, Spice1, Ray Luv, 187 Fac, Blegit, D-Shot, Mac Dre', and there's plenty of more but this paints the picture. Even the new C.E.O's have to respect the game. It's to much talent in the Bay for this shit to keep going on, we need to come together like good dope.
