bruh I got you. Heres the gameplan: take the route 4 bus to the ferry harbor. From their you gonna permenately borrow a decent size boat from the Yacht Harbor or anywhere else in the san pablo bay for that matter, just make sure that fucker got a backup engine just incase the wind ain't on your side. then smoothly sail up to bodega bay for provisions like water, saltwater taffy and rum, then continue up north, once you get to the lost coast, holla at my man Larry that works at the local airplane strip he'll hook you with a ride to shelter cove no problem.

Or take the greyhound to garberville and throw up the thumb from there.

so u took the bus to santa rosa or from santa rosa to humbolt?
both dog. and usually the people riding it are usually way more fun compared to other grayhound routes. last time i rode it a couple years back doobies were being blown during most pickup stops where we could get off the bus, everyone was getting perved in the back of the bus off wine and we even had a drunken rasta dude singing to some dudes dancehall beats on his laptop lol.

Hit up craigslist and see if anyone is headed that way and drop some money on gas. It might not work or they might be a psycho and kill you but it is worth a shot.
