Lets examine the field shall we.
Carmelo Anthony:
20.4ppg
6.2rpg
2.7apg (with 3 turnovers per game) and
1.2spg. He has been good from the field (for a rookie) but his free-throw percentage and 3pt percentage are below average. The Nuggets won 17 games last year; this year they have already almost doubled that mark with 20 games left to go, and are in playoff position. This also comes in light of Marcus Camby being healthy, who has contributed greatly this year; and the offseason aquisition of Andre Miller who has played good all season.
LeBron James:
20.6ppg
5.8rpg
5.6apg (3.5 turnovers) and
1.5spg. The Cavaliers also won 17 games last year, and have already won 25 with 21 games left to go, and are in the playoff hunt as well. He too has been decent from the fields with low free-throw and 3pt percentages respectivley. Heres where it gets interesting, not only have they not aquired anybody significant (respects to McInnis who is having a pretty good year) but they lost Ricky Davis and Darius Miles. Lebron James is making this team good, he's making Carlos Boozer good, and he's making Jeff McInnis good, both of which had subpar seasons the year before.
In short, LeBron is making the Cavaliers good; Anthony, Miller, and Camby are making the Nuggets good.
The numbers are close, but Lebron is clearly beating him. The team success is favoring Anthony, but I have shown you the support on each team, highly favoring Denver as well, and thats what seperates the two. Now I understand that both teams have decent players on their roster, but I'm going from what these players have done in the past without the new star, and what they and the team has done since then.
I thought Carmello Antohony would get ROY when the season started, but right now I have to agree with CZAR, LeBron James is going to win it.
