MY PS2 Craped Out on me, can anyone help????

When i try to load a game, it flashes reading disk like 3 times and just stops and does nothing. Whats up with this? is there any way i can fix this? I cant even find the screws to open the thing up. lol. someone please help me, is there any hope?

question four you, was dis PS2 in your ride? my ps2 was in my wip and eyez went over two many speed bumps goin to fast and two furious. it didz da same thing wiff what its doing to urs. eyez a goin to take it in for repairs and juss said f it, and eyez bout anotha 1. dey gone down in price a lot of ¢¢¢ so eyez just gotz anotha but youz may want to take it in for repair. If you wanna try to fix it yourself search Google for PS2 DRE, I think TechTV.com had an article on how to open it up and fix it.

But this only works when it's dirty, not when the lens gets too weak which happens on the older models.

Same happend to my XBOX, got to a Electronic store and ask for "Caned Air". Its only like $3 when u go home just pop the CD tray open and spray the air in. Or better yet if you got a air compreser use that cuz the air comes out harder. What happens is sometimes dust cakes on the lil glass leans thing that reads the cds... Be sure to blow the fuck out of it tho so you get all the dust out bro.

yeah my shit wont even play these purple backed porno discs I have it tries to read em for a min and then its a read error but when I first got them I watched them with no problem

dont bother sending it to sony,that shit is hella easy to do on your own,i have doen my a couple times,there are plenty of "how to" type articles online like ppl were saying...most of the time you just need to clean the lense with a q-tip and some alcohol,or adjust the voltages,which is a little more complicated but if you have a walkthrough it aint shit...

As some people pointed out already, it probably is the lens that needs to be cleaned. Mine still purrs like a kitten, so I'm lucky I have yet to experience this problem.
Just remember, once you open the PS2, you will void the warranty and wont be able to send it to sony. Just make sure you follow directions, and dont let anything distract you while doing so.
