Does anyone actually buy legit plugins?
I have an Intel mac running Leopard so I had to buy everything now.
I have Vista installed too, but I just can't get myself to use Windows at all.
I actually get by nice with using the stock DIGI EQ's. Reverb, Delays and Compressors. I have the Waves Masters as well. The new Pro Tools 8 shit is clean and easy. I thought I'd want all the other shit, but I really don't find myself going for it anymore.
Plugins get "cracked" for mac too. Maybe not as much, but they do.

The way I see it, if your making money off your music, then hell yah you should pay for it. If not, your pretty much just an occasional beat maker and hobbiest and it's not like you would have paid for it it anyways. If your serious and looking to make money, then I personally believe there's no reason why you shouldn't pay for your shit.

I personally have no problem with Windows7. Shit is clean. I used to like Macs and thought they were clean back in the days, but not anymore. Too many incompatibility issues and less software. Pretty much everything is windows based these days and most audio software developers, develope on windows.

Now with Video or Graphics, I don't see the problem with just sticking to Mac since that's all dominated pretty much by Adobe anyways. But with Audio, the amount of software available for windows is just too tempting IMO.

Kontakt 4
Omnisphere
Stylus RMX
Ethno World 4

My VST's and 3rd party libraries have made most of my hardware extinct. I have a Motif 6 and a Microkorg that both only get used as controllers now. My Roland Fantom XR is just sitting there making the lab look pretty, gets turned on maybe once every 5 months now. Sold my Planet Phatt not to long ago and Im trying to sell my Roland JV 1010.

What % of beats / production do you feel are made from Hardware vs. VST in mainstream music?

On a mixing level I think its safe to say everyone use Wave / Isotope / PSP Audioware / IK there pretty standard

Kinda depends on the genre. I think its about 50/50 with rap/hip hop/R&B/pop. Im more into film/tv/game scoring so VST's are much better suited for that. I can actually name a zillion reasons why using VST's has been better than hardware for me.

I think hardware gives a phater sound... imo

and its easier to get lost in the instrument, and work flow waaay faster... I don't plan to use vst... plus doesn't look as cool live

most of the new producers are using software now. most of the veteran producers are sticking with their hardware. it really doesnt matter but omisphere is very popular on the radio right now. So are Reason and Kontakt.

software really does offer a lot more than hardware does especially if u r making keyboard beats. I myself am a sample based producer who chooses not to play boards often tho i own them and I feel for what I do hardware is just easier. but if i was a keyboard producer id be all over the software soundbanks.

Omnisphere sounds much fatter, richer and powerful than any piece of hardware I own. When it comes to synths, the classic analog and moogs will always give a great warm/powerful sound, probally more so than most VST's. But when it comes to workstation/module sounds vs VST's, software sounds take the cake IMO. You wont find any piece of hardware on the market that sounds as good/authentic as eastwest's quantum leap products.

As far work flow, using VST's has made my work flow 100% quicker and more effeciant. I have a much larger sounds library than Ive ever had(over 100 gigs) and with products like Omnisphere they have so many different catagories and ways to easily locate the sounds you're looking for. Not to mention adding effects/EQ to individual tracks is much easier and quicker.

^ I here ya...

to entertain the thought I'll DL some vst, and midi control it with the fantom...

I don't doubt VST can be tight... turns ur cpu into a huge rack mount. I'm just scared VST will crap out on me when playing live shows

Yeah Im sure some people here could recommend some good free VST's. I think there was a thread on that sometime ago.
Keep in mind the best virtual instruments out there wont be free. I dont think its possible to get a free cracked version of programs like Omnisphere or RMX. They're too big and you need a user license to register them.

Spectrasonics Omnisphere has been cracked.

File names:
Spectrasonics.Omnisphere.v1.0.VSTi.RTAS.AU.PC.MAC.DVDR.D1-AiRISO
Spectrasonics.Omnisphere.v1.0.VSTi.RTAS.AU.PC.MAC.DVDR.D2-AiRISO
Spectrasonics.Omnisphere.v1.0.VSTi.RTAS.AU.PC.MAC.DVDR.D3-AiRISO
Spectrasonics.Omnisphere.v1.0.VSTi.RTAS.AU.PC.MAC.DVDR.D4-AiRISO
Spectrasonics.Omnisphere.v1.0.VSTi.RTAS.AU.PC.MAC.DVDR.D5-AiRISO
Spectrasonics.Omnisphere.v1.0.VSTi.RTAS.AU.PC.MAC.DVDR.D6-AiRISO

6DVDs

&

latest update patch:
Spectrasonics.Omnisphere.VSTi.AU.RTAS.v1.1.4c.UPDATE.PC.MAC.Incl.Keygen-AiR

Big files get cracked too. It doesn't really matter. These cracker groups like Team AiR are fucking insane.

BTW, you can find anything on Google.

Damn good lookin, guess I was wrong. With big libraries like that I think Id rather just buy them. Spectrasonics is a dope company and gives you way more bang for your buck than alot of others out there.

How about the quantum leap VST's that usually need an iLok key?

Yea I would rather just buy it too. That's too many files to download.

But anyways, I'm not sure about those Quantum Leap sounds. I think I have seen Collosses though.

I always just search on "Dupe Check" sites to see the latest official "cracked" releases of any type of media, whether it be software, games, movies,etc...

Like this:

http://www.orlydb.com/
http://www.0daykingz.org/
http://0days.51cc.net/

Under search, just type in keywords for what your looking for. If it's vst plugins, just type in "VST" and you'll get pretty much all of them. Just experiment. Then copy and paste that file name into google and your set.
