I was makin a beat on my mpc 2000xl last night and all of the sudden my screen just popped up a bunch of numbers (kinda like the screen on the matrix with the "0" and "1")

Then I had to restart my mpc so It erased the beat.

Anyone ever ran into this problem? Have a fix?

This is getting to be kind of a common complaint from 2000xl. The software is buggy. No OS updates that fix the problem that I know of so I guess you just gotta grit your teeth and start over until they get to it....If they get to it.

By the way, I've never had a 60, 60ii or 3000 lock up on me that I can remember. Ever. (Sorry man, had to say that. I'm not a fan of the 2000's at all!)

the same thing has been happening to me lately. The past month it did it exactly three times. Thats two beats that I spent hours on down the fuckin drain.

my only advice to you (this is what I do now) Is when you finish recording a track in your beat/song whateva. Just keep on saving each and every track as you go along.

^^^ It's buggy OS is one reason. They just don't perform like a 60/60ii/3000. Those are rock solid. Roger Linn is what made the MPC's so good in the first place. Take him out of the equation, downgrade the sample engine and a crash-prone 2000 series is what you have left. The effects engine is garbage. Akai cut a lot of corners with the 2000 series so the MPC product would be more affordable for people with project/home studios. You can't do that without sacraficing quality.
