Ok here is whats going on. I am trying to replay a beat I did back on 98 on the ASR-10. I want to use the same sounds I just want to sequence with the MPC2000XL I used to know how to do this but I can't get it to midi right. When I change the sound on the ASR even after I have recorded the first track I can no longer hear the sound that I recorded. The way you set the midi track on the XL is a little different than on the regular 2000. I know I have just overlooked something I just can't figure out what it is. Please help!

I don't have the XL, just the 2000, but when I midi my shit up, you have to remember to turn the dial in the bottom left from drum to midi. Then to the right of that, turn the dial to which channel and out you want the midi to be sent to. I don't know if that helps, but if you go the akai (I think it's www.akaipro.com) website, you can download a PDF file version of the 2000XL's instructions. Maybe that can direct you as well.

How do you like the ASR as compared to the MPC? I don't really like the sample editing capabilities of the MPC, but I like the sequencer. How does the ASR stack up against it? I'm guessing the sequencer sucks, is that why you're syncing it up with the MPC?

Make sure your going midi out from the MPC to midi in on the ASR.The only thing you should got to change on the ASR is the (CLOCK SOURCE) from internal to midi.Now follow DeviantJR instructions on the MPC that should do it.If this doesn't work check your cables may of gone faulty as they do sometimes.
