A couple of interesting articles I came across.

http://www.wired.com/news/print/0,1294,54773,00.html
http://janisian.com/article-internet_debacle.html
http://janisian.com/article-fallout.html

The first one is about how the recording industry blames the rapid decline of album sales on a new technology that allows people to easily copy and transport music. It's expected to cripple the major record labels.

The year was 1979. Audio cassettes and the Sony Walkman were the feared technologies.

The next two articles are written by Janis Ian who has been a popular songwriter and performer since the 1960s, and has decided that Internet music downloads help her and many other recording artists. She wrote an article saying so, then wrote a followup piece.

Fila: Just trying to spread some truth.
Big CeeDa: I try my best
To much RIAA/MPAA sponsered propaganda out there spread by the media. I'm tired of the RIAA pushing around every technology/company that threatens their monopoly. Their whole MO is if they can't control it then to kill it. They're trying to do the same to internet radio to please Clear Channel, Infinity, etc.

The latest BS MPAA/RIAA move is they're trying, with the help of paid for politians to pass a bill that would allow copyright holders to hack into and disable/cause havoc on systems SUSPECTED of having copyrighted material on them. And all they would need to do is infor the DOJ. No investigation, no proof needed, and no recourse for the victim!
