im not talking about the release date. dude sayed that hes not getting much attention there at atlantic and they havent even acknowledged him as a member of the atlantic records roster yet. so thats what i meant
Nobody even knew what the release date was, but yeah, you'd at least think they'd put him on the roster..... it takes a couple months to introduce a new artist and a careful marketing plan. He'll probably get what most new artists do as far as promotion...single pushed to radio, video for it and then they'll see what the reaction is and go from there. It could be different however because a lot of artists that are new to major labels have sold far better numbers than FAB before they were signed. He has the close to the same kind of regional fan support compared to artists like Mike Jones, Chamillionaire, Game, and others before they were signed, but his numbers in previous sales doesn't even match up....and in end, that's the only thing that these labels care about.

the reason hes not on the roster is because he is not a artist on atlantic.. he has a label deal and is not signed as an artist this allows him to still release albums independtly without voiding the contract, so baydestrian can be released without atlantic getting butthurt....fab sed atlantic never did this b4 with an artist.. so hes signed as a label not as an artist...i could be wrong tho but i think thats what he explained to me

Naw, you're right. Like how T.I. got his deal with them through Grand Hustle (though he's an actual artist also). It was a label deal and he did indeed explain it in a few interviews. I don't know how promo would work in that case, but given the circumstances promo seems really good so far. I just wish that he didn't drop the video so early if he's not dropping the album until late summer. I don't understand that, he must be planning on building a huge buzz over the next few months or planning on shooting another video.

he could throw ghost ride it on the independent and use that buzz to sell ALOT independently then comeout with another single for the atlantic..

So I found out that its basically a distribution deal through Atlantic which is pretty common and happens all the time, not the first. Cash Money(Universal), Bad Boy(Atlantic), Roc A Fella(Def Jam) and so many more. But yeah, I thought it would have been smart for FAB to do an independent album anyway cause he'd pocket a lot more money off cds and the regional promotion could be a lot better. He can have a lot more freedom and then now, I think that he'll put up some of the best numbers independently that the bay has seen in a while....the offer from a major will only go up after that.

I agree, they're setting him up for faliure like that imo.. Everybody, Game, Nas, Jay-Z, T.I all drops videos like a month or two before the album drops.. I understand that he's new, and needs time to build hype, I just hope they shoot another video then, right before the summer. The pack basically waisted all of that hype around Vans, now they tryna get the hype back with this new video but it isn't the same. These record labels need to start calculating a little better and handling their time better..
thizz doesn't have a clue what they're doing but atlantic does. Big labels are about big bucks, you gotta trust that they are heading fabby in the right direction
