you have to type it in manually. in the console on the bottom just type /server irc.prison.net , then /join #channel

u seem knowledgeable about the shit......i got a cable modem but my d/l rate is hella slow now, plus sometimes it dont even connect, or if it does, it times out hella quik, why is that? thanks in advance playa

yeah thats usually the other people's fault (the people youre getting stuff off of, servers), I usually dont get more than like 30k/sec max on stuff, and im on cable too.
There are only 2 causes for it not connecting at all, 1) The server/user isn't set up right and it's their fault (most common), or 2) irc isnt recognizing your IP fully, to fix this, do this every time you connect:

type /Dns [yourname]
Copy ctrl-c those numbers it gives you, like 11.66.44.11 etc... those ones
Go to Options -> Connect -> Local Info
Paste those numbers into both those boxes you see there, then press OK.

Sometimes that fixes the shit, other than that, I'm not sure what it would be, but good luck.

where do i type that /dns? im doing it after i connected at the bottom bar on the main page.......but it doesnt do anything? is that where i write the /dns thing?

connect to EFNET AMSTERDAM, that always works excllent for me, and when there are net splits i never get kicked off.

Type /dns then your name afterward, so if my name was Psilo707, itd be

/dns Psilo707

Or try

//dns Psilo707 , with two slashes.

Then look in the 'status' bar
