I use to live on the foot of the black hills, I know what your talking about. Not all of sticked growing up but they taught us alot about the indians there. They also taught us alot about our goverment too, I think because of mount. rushmore. Yeah but my city there, rapid city alot of people took a stand for the native americans back in the 70's or 80's. you use to see indians lined up under bridges and in parks that lasted forever just drinking it up, then they took a stand and started marching down streets and putting teepees up downtown. Actors and political figures came too. I grew up seeing alot of indians in the park, today you will probably will see none. also want to say sitting bull and crazy horse are kinda like icons for me too even though i'm not indian.
