Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman has been notified he will be suspended for four games for violating the NFL's steroids policy, league and team sources told ESPN's Chris Mortensen.

Merriman's positive test was "definitely for steroids … not one of those supplement deals" said a source with knowledge of Merriman's suspension.

Merriman's suspension originally was to be announced last Tuesday when two other players -- the Falcons' Mark Lehr and the Lions' Shaun Rogers -- were suspended for violating the policy. But Merriman reserved the right to appeal his suspension, so it was not announced.

Neither the Chargers, nor Merriman, could be reached for comment Sunday night.

Earlier Sunday the Chargers lost to the Chiefs 30-27 in Kansas City.

I wouldn't be suprised if I found out 80% of the NFL was on roids. Its damn near impossible to get as big and have as many cuts as these fooz got. These fooz got 8 packs now a days with 2 biceps on each arm and shit. I took roids for 1 week before. my max on bench went from 175 to 215 in 1 WEEK. now that's fuckin crazy, and they say the first week is just gettin yo body use to it, I wonder how I woulda been if I woulda finished it. but ya know I started trippin on how big I was gettin in so short a time and I quit cuze it just wasn't natural.

i hear ya rasan, im not going to say the season is over...but they gotta go 3-1 these next four weeks to keep pace......and they gotta go to denver and cincinnati in that time span. Our front seven is depleted, missing 3 of our top players. if you think about it shaun phillips is actually a 2nd stringer taking steve foleys place so we will have a 3rd stringer starting at that spot for the next month:hurt:

That sucks.. Steroids dramatically impact your ability to play. I guess Merriman really isn't as good as it seems. Roids don't just make you bigger, sometimes if you don't work out you don't get any bigger at all.. But they give you seemingly endless stamina and tremendous power, even if you don't work out. A football player on roids is a damn good player, even if his natural skills are low. I guess we'll see how good Merriman really is when he comes off his suspension.

They're still good man.

Charger fans you all still have a real good football team, the league isn't AFC-dominant anymore, you guys will be in the playoffs and maybe more.

With Oral Steriods they are out of your system much faster than injectables. I am sure that a large number of players in all leagues are on HGH and another smaller % on Steriods.

^Wrong... I am not saying that. But if you would have seen that Monday night game when the Raiders opened up against San Diego you would know what I am talking about. It was others in the backfield too... but Merriman was back there all fuckin' night. That fool was juiced...

i know what you are saying, just having a little fun with you....however i think that the lack of talent on the raiders line may of had something to do with it as well
