I'm high as fuck but just seen this shit was on vh1 again tonight

we live in the future now weed is legal, pussy hair is non existent and menace is on vh1 Asian dudes brains getting blown out and everything

beyond the fact that vh1 is owned by rich old white people and originated as an old white peoples rock station geared at those that didnt fit the criteria of the 13 - 27 year old mtv demographic, obviously its a business and the sole purpose of a television business is ratings and commercial revenue but im not talking about rich fucks getting richer by the bastardization of rap/hip hop culture im talking about the overall positive/negative effect it has on the sheep/general population?

discuss..

ill beat yall to it

on some real shit though ive been doing some reflection and realize if a rap song is on the radio regardless of the quality i stop listening to it or playing it in my club unless im tipped to do so, and even then i hesitate

when im out and about and see some jerkoff wearing the same jordans as me i usually give them to goodwill afterwards

when menace is on vh1 or bet or any cable channel for that matter i never watch menace again

im fucked up in the head and realize that now but it feels correct, which is why most of us are on an underground gangster rap message board in the first place i assume

I see your point for sure, but menace 2 society was a pretty big movie. It's not like some weird cult film that nobody knows about. But ya, I remember VH1 being Sheryl Crow videos so it is pretty weird for them to play menace 2 society

VH1 isn't a music station any more though like it used to be, it's just another reality show and movie channel like MTV became. VH1 ain't really a representation of 40 year old soft rock people like back in the 90's.

This is off subject, but it trips me the fuck out now days that MTV would rather play old movies and re-runs of 20 year old sitcoms than music videos now days. I remember seeing on MTV2 they were playing shit like Martin, Boy Meets World, and all kinds of sitcoms from the 90's in prime time, even MTV2 won't even play music videos and now VH1 Classics plays reruns of old VH1 reality shows lol

I watched that move hella times when I was 12, straight up menace was my favorite song for like 2 years straight.

I watched part of it last night and its one of the most ignorant movies I have ever seen. The acting is horrible, all they do is say ignorant ass shit to each other, every other word is mother fucker, its embarrassing for black people IMO.

Menace II Society has more of a cult following though, Breh. It's not a big movie like Goodfellas or Casino. I remember watching it at the movies and nobody really talked about it til it was released on VHS. It pretty much took off from that point.

Then again, I remember it wasn't being played in many theaters due to the violence & people in fear of gangsters showing up & causing a riot. I know that sounds stupid, but them same people didn't fear that their theater would be tarnished with jiz stained seats or homosexual orgies when they played Brokeback Mountain in those same places that banned Menace LOL!

Sharif? Is that you? LOL! j/k

Seriously though, you honestly think the acting was horrible? Larenz Tate's role as O-Dog was impeccable. I think had 2Pac stayed on that film & played the role of O-Dog it would of been another 2Pac movie and not as strong as it is.

Saffir as cousin Harold. MC Eiht as Awax, Samuel L. Jackson, Jada Pinkett Smith (Jada Pinkett at the time), Clifton Powell, Charles S. Dutton, Glenn Plummer etc.

Really, Breh?

Vh1 puts m2s on because they see it as a reality TV show. They know people are gonna watch it because A.they can relate to it or B.they get a sense of superiority watching people act a fool.
No....Vh1 puts m2s on because it's a movie released in the last 25 years lol that's it, plain and simple. If you look at their TV line up they literally pick the most random ass movies to play.

The next movie they got playing in their line up is Two Can Play That Game starring Morris Chestnut and Vivica A. Fox, how much more random can you get? lol

My guess is they play random movies without big followings because the broadcasting rights to movies like these are small.
