If Merriman was named to the Pro Bowl and All Pro team, McGwire should have made it no problem on his first try. I've never been a McGwire fan but I don't understand the double standard here. One guy actually has a dirty test during the season. Gets suspended for 4 games, comes back and everyone still acts like he's one of the best in the league(not sayin he's not). Then when he gets all these honors everyone says "WELL HE ALREADY SERVED HIS SUSPENSION FOR WHAT HE DID, SO IT DOESN'T MATTER." Then you got this other cat who has never actually been caught taking steroids. It wasn't even illegal in baseball while he was playing(even though we all know its illegal by law). But the main thing was there is no hard cold evidence that he did anything. Yes the whole world knows he most likely did roids with his "LETS NOT TALK ABOUT THE PAST" quote, but the way this shit plays out just makes no sense to me. I think Merriman is gettin one of the biggest passes of all time on this, and I can't believe the amount of support he is still receiving from fans and the media. I don't like one guy more than the other. I actually think Merriman deserves his honors though. Cuze I believe more than half the league is still doin roids or some form of it, if not more than half. I just ain't down with this double standard shit and I feel everyone should be judged on the same scale. But hey I'm wastin my breath......or my fingers typin, cuze it ain't ever gonna happen.

I'm glad Gwynn and Ripken made it, both guys are deserving. I was also hoping that Andre Dawson would squeak his way in but it looks like his vote count went down from last year. Too bad for Goose Gossage though, he was less than 4% of the votes away from making it.

He got so little votes, I don't think he'll ever get in. The voters sent a clear message:

"You could have stuck up for yourself in front of Congress, but instead you chose sit there with that guilty and shamed look on your face in silence."

And, LMAO at comparing the HOF to the Pro Bowl. I didn't read a single sentence more from that post after that.

the hall of fame and pro bowl are two different things.

@ aryo: you say he is getting a pass then you say he deserves all his awards? i dont get it, you mad at him or not?
Why do I have to be mad at him? All I am doin is statin straight facts and you gettin a lil defensive cuze you a Chargers fan. As players I like Merriman way better than I ever liked McGwire in baseball. Its just confusing to me how one player can get a complete pass when he was caught red handed. Then another has never been caught but everyone says he's guilty cuze of one quote he had in front of Congress. Even though its different sports the media still has a lot to do with both. I know a lot of reporters are the ones who have votes in the HOF. Same with the All-Pro team as well. So the way the voting goes down its all taken care of by similar hands. It doesn't take a genius to know back when McGwire and Sosa were doin their thang back whenever, that shit ressurected baseball. Baseball had been shitty ever since the strike, and when this shit popped off it was new life for baseball. I always said fuck it, in my opinion at least 70-80% of all pro players in all sports most likely fuck wit roids anyway. So they need to let that shit go and just give out the awards who they belong to. Instead of tryin to judge it based on if they did roids or not, its fuckin ridiculous. You can't tell me you don't think McGwire deserves to be in the HOF. Shit I'm a Giants fan I never liked the guy, but I know he should be in.

They do, I went in 2004. I took like 100 something pictures I think... I'll put them online somewhere. Every baseball fan should go at least once. Also caught an A's/Yankees game at Yankee Stadium.

EDIT: I just found my Cooperstown pictures, I took over 200... I'll put them online somewhere later.
