Cal Football Star Accused of Assault on Ex Girlfriend


OAKLAND -- A former girlfriend is accusing former Cal star running back Marshawn Lynch of domestic violence and sexual assault.

KCBS has learned the Alameda County District Attorney is reviewing the woman's claims following an Oakland police investigation.

Lynch's attorney Gerry Schwartzbach denies the allegations.

KCBS has confirmed the woman was granted a restraining order against Lynch Friday morning. Schwartzbach says Lynch was unaware of the court hearing and did not attend.

In her complaint, the woman alleges Lynch choked, slapped and sexually assaulted her in Oakland the night of December 13th. She filed the civil complaint on December 19th, according to court documents obtained by KCBS.

Shwartzbach says Lynch was at the woman's home with a friend that night, but denies that any violence or sexual assault took place. He says Lynch was questioned by police and is co-operating with investigators.

Oakland police declined to comment, as did the deputy district attorney handling the case.

Lynch, the Pac-10 offensive player of the year and a first team All-American as a junior last season, left school early to enter the NFL draft. He is considered a likely first round draft choice. His last game for Cal was the Holiday Bowl victory over Texas A&M on December 28th. He attended Oakland Tech high school.

That would be the day the world ended if Marshawn Lynch gets drafted by the Raiders. I hope the Raiders draft another Robert Gallery esque player.

I don't know the guy personally (neither do you). I wasn't there when this thing went down (neither were you). My perception (b/c that's all it is) of him as a thug is 3-fold:

1) His Look (Does this alone make me think he's a thug, no way)

2) His On-Field Behavior (Does this alone make me think he's a thug, no way)

3) This (Does this alone make me think he's a thug, no, she could be a money hungry bitch lying through her teeth)

But when you put the 3 together, it makes me pretty comfortable in viewing him as a thug. A month ago if you'd asked me to name a Pac-10 Player who'd end up in the police blotter (guilty, innocent, or a little bit of both which is what I would guess), I probably would've guessed Marshawn Lynch b/c of visual clues 1 and 2. Coupled with this allegation, he's a fuckin thug in my book.

Don't cry any of this "black man from Oakland" stuff, there are well over a hundred black men from Oakland playing professional or major college sports, and I perceive very few of them to be thugs.





(but who cares if he's a thug?) Not me, I'd love the Seahawks to snatch him up but it won't happen b/c they don't have a 1st round pick.

hey mr stereotype, have you seen him off the field? He's very softspoken and modest guy; He never talks about himself. In addition, all his teammates say the same thing. If you've seen any interview with him, you would have never have said that. But of course, with little to no knowledge, you went there.

That's a cool video, thanks for posting it. However, it does nothing to change my mind, it's irrelevent with respect to this discussion. How humble somebody is, how softly they speak or how much they come across as a mama's boy has nothing to do w/ whether they're a thug or not. The video is not what I was expecting based on the way you wrote about it, it actually kind of reconfirms the initial thoughts I had.
