I have some tips.

Start with a 2 or 4 bar Drum loop.

Find some sounds you think are good and Edit them or use them like there are

It's hard to say what you need to do but you need to Hear alot of music.. I played alot of Rap beats and would take notes and how they put there Drums togetter or how many times there use the same sound in a song or on a album and how they would edit it and make a new sound form it.

and don't put to much on you're self to make a Sick beat at first. Play around and see what happenps thats what do.

I should have some beats done soon so you can hear what i do.

I was just gonna say that. It aint something you can just learn to be good at. People can learn to play an instrument, but that doesn't mean you'll be able to create a whole track or produce a song either. It definitely should not be forced, but if you enjoy messing around, it aint hurtin nobody .

honestly, try learning to play the keys...
just hitting random notes isn't working for you so you'd get much more out of actually PLAYING the instrument.

imagine a melody or anything else in your head, start humming it or beatboxing or whatever, then be real real real stubborn and play it by ear until you got it right. if you cant lay down a whole track in your head then your off to a bad start

^ oh i can, i think of sick shit in my head, thing is i can NEVER get it to sound the same when i play it, so thats why i was thinkin it'd be good to learn to play, so i can learn what notes i am hearin, then all thats left is getting it in the right octave and what not

i got an mpc 3000 and jp8000, and a motif rack--------but---------I still buy beats why cause I refuse to put anything that aint up to par on my projects, i got some cool shit I give away for free.I bought 30 beats from raw steel if you bought the thuglords album he did 44 mag glock, and lets flip her, also did shit with gangsta, a grip of shit with eiht, ren, above the law,imx etc etc.to me I would do almost anything to be as tight as him,i asked him if i learned to play piano would that make my beats tighter his answer-no.He said he knew alot of cats who was genius with the keys but when it came to makin beats they was garbage( he is self taught) it has to be in you

you dont have to know any music theory, just be stubborn! play it by ear, hum the first note and then play every key until you find the one your humming then get to the next one.
