Mar. 2 - A local rapper wanted for two murders in Las Vegas and suspected in a third in Fairfield was arrested Thursday night, authorities said.
FBI agents and police arrested Andre Dow, 35, around 7:30 p.m. at a home in the city's South of Market neighborhood on a federal warrant for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.
Dow, also known as "Mac Minister," has been indicted in Las Vegas on two counts of murder and two counts of conspiracy to commit murder in the May deaths of Kansas City rapper Anthony "Fat Tone" Watkins, 24, and Jermaine "Cowboy" Akins, 22.
Another man, Jason Mathis, an aspiring rap promoter, also has been charged in the murders. He was arrested July 12 and pleaded not guilty.
Authorities said they were investigating whether the killings were part of a feud between Midwest and West Coast rappers and whether it was linked with the November 2004 drive-by slaying in Kansas City of California rapper Andre "Mac Dre" Hicks, 34. Watkins was considered a person of interest but was never called a suspect in Hicks' slaying.
Dow also is a suspect in the November slaying of Lee Danae Laursen, 21, of Fairfield. Authorities believe Laursen, who was Mathis' girlfriend, may have been a witness to the deaths of Watkins and Akins.
Dow fled Las Vegas after his November indictment. His case was featured on the television crime show "America's Most Wanted" in February.
