Those totals are totals from the year shown to today. It may not look like alot sold but for somebody who's independant its not bad even though it took him almost 7 years to sell 50,000 albums on some occations. If Fat joe only sold 400,000 albums please believe mac dre wont be close to those numbers with no promotion.

i would think thizzelle washington would be in the 100k range..
but remember these are the times of a bad economy and also like you said, bootlegging aka burning shit from your boys aka downloading
yeah that just proves how it really hurts indi artists as far as sales for example 50 cent will get about 3million sales lost or more do to bootlegging but he still sells 10million but on a level of mac dre were 100,000 would be great for indi the bootleging make those would be numbers stay in the 20-40,000 range support ya local bay rappers man thats wuts up pz

I made a post about 3 weeks ago titled "Mac Dre the Most Bootlegged Artist in the Industry" under this premise: you hear his music now on constant rotation not only in Northern California but LA, SD, Mexico, NY, KC, Satellite Radio, etc. and the sales dont match with the coverage he gets. The economy is NOT BAD when you look at it relatively compared to the real bad times the US has had. This is the direct result of bootlegging especially people downloading singles.

@ $7per disc = $2,738,554 devide that by a 12/year carrer - 4/when he was in prison so a 8 year carrer = $342,319.25 per year. Not including shows and the cd's not mentioned on sound scan. And if you subtract what it costs to make each project I'd say he made about $150,000 a year after tax's and everything thats what Doctors make at kaiser so most people go to college for 8 years to become a doctor/lawer this nigga went to prison for 4 years and became an urban educator making the same kind of bread as dentist, lawers and office managers.

your forgetting the benz that was a.o.b.

It didn't take him 7 years to get those sales. You have to remember that you get most of your sales in the first 6-8 months of a release. Just because it dates back to 98 doesn't mean it took all the way til 2005 to get 50,000. Those numbers just reflect what its sold to date and I gurantee those releases in the late 90's have been pretty much the same for years.

i dont know how hitman could sell all those records but that was before the net and boootlegging began, so if there was no bootlegging mac dre's numbers would have been in 100's of thousands for many of his albums for sure.
