im in QB.. didnt meet a soul who knew yuk

same thing when i was in compton...

yuk may sell... but more people know 40 and short then know yuk.. thats all im sayin.. yuk has a very supportive fanbase

i aint goin by what none of YALL know im goin from what i learned not heard from some1 else.. i thought yuk would be more popular bein apart of i got 5 on it.. but its people across the country who dont know yuk IS half the luniz... its people in OAKLAND who dont know that.. ive heard people on other coasts who do know of yukmouth thinkin he from LA.. sad but true

40 and short are exposed more thru television and radio.. and recognized as bay icons all over.. nuff sed
You wont find alot of people in the QB who know yuk but there are people around NY that do know him. When was the last time you went to compton?? Cuz i almost everybody in compton knew about yuk when i was out in compton. And ofcourse more people know 40 and short nobody was questioning that.

4) pac... pac is bay all the way.... so lets see who the first hater is who says he wasn't bay
I guess Pac hated on himself then because every time I listen to or read an interview with him, he was talkin' about & reppin' Los Angeles.

^^^in my opinion that was the whole reason yuk got involved in all that drama. i hate all that beef bullshit, it reminds me of the kids in highschool, and most of the time its people just trying to gain exposure however they can. but thinking about it i guess yuk does have a better chance of making it big, id say he falls well into that whole 50 cent, ja rule mainstream rap category. they pretty much rap about the same shit

i hate you all... yukmouth is a failure. if you are in the music industry in the bay, and you dont know Del or Blackalicious...quit! But also..they are not the same vibe as quinn or keak. their fanbase is nearly all white.
those are good points. but why do you think that is that some rappers fanbases attract a certain type of people moreso than others. cause that is true all those guys i mentioned earlier: mostly white fans. but even guys like nickatina and mac dre (at least thats what it seems like

thats true.. yuk is a mainstream rapper.. he just got that gutta edge.. but yeah just like 50.. yuks delivery is more BAM BAM u feel me he dont try to slow smoothely he rips shit up.. thats whats appealin to me but in terms of havin a mainstream type flow i agree because he spits on fuckin bitches, buyin cars, ice, clothes etc.. normal shit but he does it with that edge that makes him better then those others to me

u say that del and blackalicious fans are mostly white

if you judge by record sales of big artists.. u'd find the same thing.. Jay-Z sells all them records.. i think like 3/4 of them are to white people.. black people dont lbuy too many cds too often when u can just go to the corner and get it for 5 dollars

i dont really like categorizin music tho.. its either good ok or weak to me.. regardless of what they spit on cuz i'll still knock me some cash money "commercial" as people will say but then sit down and listen to some talib.. its about how its presented

peace

bay artists just need to keep grindin.. our sound will be in demand sooner or later.. its only right for the game to turn this way also

?

have you ever been to a Mac Dre or Nickatina concert? and i dont mean them performing in a club,i mean a concert? 80% of the attendees are white.most people that purchase rap cd's are white...........

80% of rap cd consumers are white males..............most of this board is white, and it targets fans of the ones you mention.........

funny you say cash money. i dont really listen to too much "i have a lot of money and cars and hoes" music unless its sound has something i really take a liking to (mac dre, nicky t, and a few others). and when it comes to commercial, ill get down to some lil wayne or big tymers every once in a while. i dont know i just cant deny how tight mannie fresh's beats are

as far as fan bases and race. to me it seems like mainstream hip hop is liked by everone, black, white etc. but underground rap seems to be mostly a white fanbase. most black ppl seem to only know commercial rap. i dont know why but i think it has something to do with the fact that to follow indy rap you gotta do a lot of internet browsing which i think white ppl do a lot more than black. its just a thought i had, and i may be completely ignorant or wrong in it, but im pretty sure its safe to say that the indy rap fan base is definitley mostly white over black, im just not sure why.

yeah it is more internet based.. and takes too daym long to find sumthin

radio television are all right there.. so those with access will be exposed to it

the rap game is marketed towards those who buy the cds.. those sweet hooks and overdone melodies will last just as long as the heavy record sales from those demographics do (haha i proly misused that word oh well it looked good) rappers are way too 1 dimensional these days and thats whats sad

how are you going to have a video on mtv if you don't have a way to distribute shit to the areas?

a music video is an advertisement... you want to air it in your markets.

people can get that distribution but they need to have enough popularity or get fucked over by a label
