The real KILLA TAY!!! What's up? I don't know you personally, and you don't know me--I'm not a rapper, I'm only a fan, but that's real talk you just spit. Too many don't take the time to look at the big picture.
Now me, I loved the Lunasicc style, but I didn't have a problem with the Luni style the way others here seem to. I thought TOTAL RECALL was raw as hell! IN THE MOUTH OF MADNESS seemed slightly more party-ish here and there ("Ya Ya"), but was still dope, fun shit to ride to (and the skits had a funky, down-home vibe that I dug--especially the one where you hear "Only The Strong Survive" by Jerry Butler playing!). For me, comparing Luni to Lunasicc is like comparing E-40 on HALL OF GAME to 40 on IN A MAJOR WAY...sure, HALL OF GAME didn't have some of the rawness that IN A MAJOR WAY did, but it was no sellout and was dope in its' own right. I felt the same held true for LUNI C.
I have to admit, though, that
WWW.LUNICOLEONE.COM from last year just didn't do it for me. TAY, when I read the part in your post about Luni being depressed about the corporate shit, it hit home--there were SOME dope tunes on
WWW.LUNICOLEONE.COM, but when I first heard that CD last summer, I remember thinking that Luni sounded like he was going through the motions. Something was just...missing. The CD didn't feel COMPLETE as his previous four did. You know what I mean? Your explanation helps this all to make more sense. Was Luni starting to get fed up during the time he recorded that CD? (although I do like Luni's newer WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE with Hollow Tip. Luni sounds like he's more into it on that CD).
Well, Tay, keep your head up, and do what you have to do to survive. I still bump MR. MAFIOSO and SNAKE EYES to this day (never got a chance to hear THUG RELIGION, though). PEACE!
