LT can break tackles with the best of em, just watch some of his game footage,so Gore isnt better then LT in that respect.

of course anybody would take LT over Gore, that's a no brainer and if you wouldnt you dont know a dam thing about football.

That being said i think Gore is a Beast! dude got talent, i like his running style, straight downhill busting thru fools.he's a great back and now a starting probowl NFC back, congrats to him,he deserves it.Plus i like the fact the LT is one of his idols

^ Well, thats like trying to compare Floyd Mayweather Jr to Andre Ward. Sure, it makes for interesting conversation. But its an obvious answer, that any casual fan of Pro Football should be able to answer.

GORE SLOW? Damn you must be out your mind, FOO RUNS A 4.3! He probably in the Top 5 in fastest Running Backs.

1.Michael Bennett
2.LT
3.Michael Pittman
4.Frank Gore
5.LJ
honestly i think that LT is a little high on this list.....they're lots of speedster running backs in the league...but there is more than just speed to being a back. like vision and balance, very important.....

WHAT DO YOU GUYS KNOW ABOUT MICHEAL TURNER (DA BURNER) POWER LIKE GORE FASTER THAN BOTH HE AND LT....NEXT YEAR!!!

Sorry but yes he is. LaDainian is my favorite RB (he has been for quite some time, but Frank Gore is on the come-up on my list) but he doesn't run thru fools like Frank Gore does. LaDainian has more finess and that will probably help his career in the long run. He's also faster than Gore and can evade more tacklers because of it. I'm not saying Tomlinson doesn't break tackles, but he doesn't do it like Gore does. Once a defender wraps these two up, it'll be harder to take Gore to the ground.

Running Back has always been my position when I played football and it's my favorite position in the game. I pay close attention to all the good RBs and what they do on the field, even if I hate their teams. I enjoy watching the Chargers and like I said LT is my favorite back, so I pay close attention to his accomplishments. I've been waiting for someone like Frank Gore to come to SF..

And the fact that people even bother to state choice of LT over Gore should be somewhat of a compliment to Frank. Being compared to LaDainian (which is not the point of this thread) should be flattering to such a young player, even if everyone is saying they'd rather have LT. At least he's involved in the conversation, which is more than I can say for most other RBs.

Bottom line, comparing Gore to LT is just as rediculous as comparing ANY back in the league to LT. LT is on another level.

Now, Gore is young and still improving, but he will NEVER be as good as LT is right now. If you niner's fans honestly think so, look at the records that LT is breaking and realize that there hasn't been a better RB in the league since Barry Sanders.

And Fatal, Gore may "seem" better than LT at breaking tackles, but you said it yourself, LT uses his other abilities such as quickness, speed, moves, etc to avoid taking hits. How does Gore's lack of these skills make him better than LT, because he is forced to break tackles? Gore is not better than LT in anything whatsoever, at least when it comes to the game of football.

You do understand what a fuckin BROKEN TACKLE is, right? Because from your post it sure doesn't seem like it. A broken tackle is when you get CAUGHT BY A DEFENDER, but you "BREAK" the tackle. LT avoids getting caught, period. But when he does, he goes down a lot easier than Gore does. Which means Gore is better at breaking tackles. If you do not understand that, then you shouldn't be participating in this conversation.

And LOL @ Gore's "lack of these skills." He has those skills, just not as good as LT.

@ Lamberto

^ Like I said, its like comparing Floyd Mayweather to Andre Ward.

But Gore has a higher yards per carry average than LT, Gore has more 20+ Yard runs...so already you're argument is null and void.

And to say Gore is NEVER going to be as good as LT is...Gore is actually having a better year than LT did in his second year, and without nearly as many offensive weapons as LT had, and no Lorenzo Neal.

Not to take anything away from LT, but having the best fullback and tight end in the league definitely helps open up holes.

Yeah, LT is breaking big records this year, but you can compare the two because he is a top 3 running back.
Player Team G Att Att/G Yds Lng Avg Yds/G TDs 20+
LaDainian Tomlinson SD 14 310 22.1 1626 85 5.2 116.1 28 11
Larry Johnson KC 14 352 25.1 1516 47 4.3 108.3 13 9
Frank Gore SF 14 271 19.4 1491 72 5.5 106.5 6 14

Tomlinson has 28 tds, compared to gore's 6
Gore has a better average and he's four years younger
