hip hop artist sample soul, funk and jazz basslines...it'd probably be easier if you look for r&b, funk and jazz bass tabs...

You should be able to listen to a bass line and figure it out on the keys fairly easily, most bass lines are very simple, a good bass line is a simple bass line. So learn to listen and trust your ear, you'll find the right notes eventually.

Exactly, I also think simple is better. I say fuck with trying to copy other's bassline's exactly, it's not that hard to make your own up.
