i bet they were the parents of the 12 YO old kids already on the team on one side and the parents of the newly drafted kids on the other side.

i remember first year coaching LL i was an assistant coach the head coach couldnt go so he left us 2 coaches a lineup. we stuck to it but in the 4th inning we pulled a big 12 YO and put a 10 year old in his place. that kids parent came unglued and hysterical in the stand, rallying the other 12 YO parents to call the manager.

never mind that her kid was 0/2 with 2 K's and batting about .100 on the season and more importantly that the 10 YO got the go ahead hit in the 4th and the winning hit in the 6th.

parents and LL= Bad Combination

A lot of the good kids I knew growing up played both Fed Ball and Little League.

As for the rules of the 10-12 Year Old little league, I don't mind it. A lot of these kids are too small for the big field, or may not be able to comprehend the rules, but actually they all actually comprehend the rules, since if you don't, my league at least, had "Farm League", where the shitty players played.

But it does make the transistion from 12 year old baseball to 13 year old baseball tough, but if you have coaches that are good with kids and actually know baseball, its good. The problem with a lot of little league coaches, is that they don't really know much about real baseball, they know little league baseball, which isn't real baseball at all, like somebody said, it's like overhand softball.

Little league is important, but I think people probably make there most development at the 13-14 year old level. When they finally start playing on a real field with real rules. This is usually when kids start getting involved in fed leagues and shit. Since if they are serious about baseball, and love it, they'll want to play as much as possible and the 18 game regular season schedule just doesn't cut it.

And like somebody said, there's a lot of politics in the whole organization. Parents take it deadly serious. We had police called to our games on numerous occasions over stupid parents arguing on the field. I've seen coaches almost get in fights with umpires.

But baseball is a fun sport to play, so little league was cool as hell for me. I remember always getting so pumped when baseball was about to start.

eXACTLY!!!!

And you want to know the worst part?
These are 7-8 year olds!!!!

I just couldnt believe it when I saw these parents taking a LL baseball game so serious every fucking game! These kids are learning BARELY how to play the game. No one's child is a "Star" at this age. Maybe they know how to throw, catch, run, and hit better than a few of the other kids but by the time all these kids turn 14-15, all that shit balances out!

We recently went from playing 2nd grade machine pitch to kid pitch here in Fall ball. My son was a good machine pitch hitter, (it come right down the middle everytime), but I knew once we got to kid pitch he would be better.
What do you know....He hit the game tie double Sunday and we went on to win the game.

We went 10-2 in Spring and Summer ball .....we are 2-0 in Fall ball.

It just amazes me to see parents yelling at their for "missing the ball" or "not hitting good"...

Shit....take your kid home a practice!!!!
