DETROIT -- The Detroit Lions and Oakland Raiders failed to sell all their tickets for Sunday's games by an NFL-imposed deadline and will be blacked out on local television.

The Lions fell well short of a sellout for their game against the Washington Redskins, while the Raiders failed to sell out their game against the Denver Broncos by the league deadline of 72 hours before kickoff.

Lions spokesman Bill Keenist said Thursday the game will be blacked out in the Detroit, Lansing, Saginaw-Flint and Toledo, Ohio, markets.

More than 10,000-plus tickets were available on Wednesday. Last week, the Lions were able to sell 1,700 available tickets in time for the home game against Minnesota.

The Raiders got a one-day extension to sell out their opener against San Diego but were unable to avoid the blackout against the Broncos.

The Raiders have had two games blacked out each season since taking over ticket sales from Alameda County before the 2006 season. This marks the first division game blacked out during that time.

Now you want to take shots at the fans huh.... the tickets are too expensive for my budget... I think they're like $140.... that's too much money to a single ticket.

You all can call me dick or what ever all you want but hey a team with such a huge fanbase as the raiders like to boast they have should NEVER blackout!

Broncos have a fraction of the population to pull from as oakland/la and yet the season ticket waitlist is over 10 years long and sell out streaks some of the longest in nfl history with no games blacked out in any of our lifetimes.

in fact on this board sol, 3vid3nc3, and radiostationrep are the only ones I know that go on the regular.

well... I don't go to every single game

I could afford it... but I'd rather not spend the money

I try to hit a couple games every season though... I was at the home opener... am I less of a fan for not going to every game... I don't think so, but if you think I am then so be it...

plus I gotta find people down to go to the games every week... a lot of my boys are actually niners fans... out my good friends who are raiders they either gotta work on sundays... got other shit going on... or just don't wanna spend the money like me

yeah it sucks that we can't sell out every game... but face it, the team has been run pretty shitty over recent years... and fans are sick of it... people don't like spending money to see their team lose

not 1 bit do I believe that but at the same time again, for the raider nation to always boast the best fans in NFL you would think you could get a sell out in a stadium that holds under 64000. by comparsion Denver like I said has a fraction of population to pull from and sells out 75000+ every game
