(CBS) COVINA A Covina man and his adult son were in custody Friday for allegedly sexually assaulting a girl, 14, in their apartment for about a week, authorities said.
Thomas Hinds, 50, and his son, Thomas Hinds Jr., 28, were arrested Thursday night, according to the sheriff's department.
The son allegedly spoke with the girl on a "telephone party line" while his father listened in, then lured the girl to their apartment.
"The first word that comes to my mind is ‘disgusting,' quite frankly," Covina police Lt. Scott Pierson said. The father drove to Long Beach area to pick her up at a site away from her home and brought her to the apartment in Covina.
"I don't know how long she intended to stay there, but her family did report her missing on March 1, which is the day she left," Pierson said.
The girl was found after she called her grandmother, who, using caller ID, jotted down the telephone number and called police, who traced the number to the Hinds' apartment.
Pierson said that the pair was booked for unlawful sex with a minor, committing lewd acts with a minor and false imprisonment.
They were held on $75,000 bail each and arraignment was expected Friday afternoon in Pomona Superior Court.
