In it's most basic form, you are right rwashing34, but I wouldn't try to establish any deeper understanding from that simple statement. Rain falls because water molecules bind to particulate matter in the atmosphere and when too many of these molecules combine the droplet becomes too heavy and falls. On the same note, that same rain drop falls to Earth due to the Earths gravitational pull. They are both reasons. On the other hand, there is no reason for why someone gets hit by a car. There is no reason for why someone wins the lottery. There is no reason why humans exist. As someone said before, there is a cause (psychotic driver, the person buying the lottery ticket in the first place, evolution), but no REASON.
In conclusion, life has no 'meaning'. We exist, and the fact that we exist is simply serendipitous. With that said, the fact that we exist for no real reason doesn't preclude us from enjoying life however fleeting!
