In the main event of the show, Lesnar defeated Akebono with a DDT! Lesnar twice went for The Verdict (F-5), but was unable to get the big man up and also injured his back in the process. Due to the injury, Lesnar had to resort to the DDT to pick up the three count. There had been speculation that the match would become a “no ropes” match, but luckily that did not happen. Many were disappointed in the abrupt ending (considering the DDT is not thought of as one of Lesnar’s typical finishing maneuvers), but overall the match was called entertaining. Akebono fought valiantly and even had Lesnar down for the three count but the referee was unconscious. Lesnar’s next challenger has not been determined yet.
