Good luck man. Keep your fucking head down in Basic. Don't raise your hand for SHIT. They ask "Who likes rap music?" Or "Who likes tiddies?" Keep your fucking hand down. They will have you out there breaking rocks or paining a goddam parking lot if you put your hand up.

Shit is just like that motivational poster about the game. You lose. That's all they're trying to teach you. Don't buck when they tell you to do stupid shit, just accept that the drill sgt. is the winner and you're the loser, and shit will go easy for you.

Keep positive, focus on the good shit, and don't kick it with the people who are always fucking up.

Where you going after that for AIT? I did my basic at Benning then AIT in Gordon. It wasn't the best of times, but there was fun to be had.

Yeah I always hear people that tell me to not volunteer or raise my hand for anything. Well I'm doing the split-training option so next summer I'm going to AIT at Fort Bragg, NC. What's your MOS? Mine is psychological operations specialist.

When I was still in it, it was 74B. They've changed the number since I left. I think it's like 35C now, I'm not sure. Anyways it was pretty much "computer guy". We trained on everything from running servers and routers to making Access databases.

Hopefully you'll get a security clearance with your MOS. I only have a secret clearance, but I landed this current job in less than two weeks of moving to San Diego (this job started in SD, then went all over the States for a year, then Germany).

I just got a call "How's your clearance?"
"It's still good"
"OK show up on Monday, wear a shirt with a collar."

No interview, no nothing. They just needed someone with clearance.

Psy-Ops should be some pretty crazy shit. Best of luck man.

Yeah PSYOP requires a secret security clearance and they already granted it to me. That's cool. Hopefully I can get a good civilian job with it while I'm in the reserves.

Yeah I was in the National Guard. After AIT I used the money I saved for a month long trip to Venezuela. That was a pretty crazy trip.

Even if you can't find a job on your own, just tell your readiness NCO to put you on orders when you get back. There wasn't any work up in Portland, OR which is why I joined. They kept me employed pretty steadily the whole time I was in the NG. Did some fun ass shit too. We got to be the opposition force for some NCO leadership classes. We were pulling drive-bys in the humvees, staging ambushes and shit like that. Sitting out in front of my hooch drinking a beer at 6AM why the students run by doing PT (they all out ranked me too).
