Racy, late-night text messages sent by drunks and potheads have inspired a new prime-time sitcom.

Adam Sandler’s production company successfully pitched the Fox TV network on a high concept: Take the wild singles lifestyle represented on the Texts From Last Night website and turn it into a television comedy.

The website, which launched in February and averages 4 million visitors daily, prompted Steve Holland to partner with Sandler’s Happy Madison Productions on the concept. Holland, a co-producer on CBS’ The Big Bang Theory who will write the new series, told The Hollywood Reporter: “The show is about twentysomethings in that post-college, pre-the-rest-of-their-lives limbo trying to figure out what to do, and texting is a large part of that.”
