I think its an Illinois state law or something where they don't test in his situation or something like that.. I heard on the news early yesterday that they won't test him for blood alcohol limits because of some illinois law or some shit.

Hmm, more twists...

Briggs says he panicked, reported his car stolen
Associated Press

LAKE FOREST, Ill -- Chicago Bears linebacker Lance Briggs said he panicked after he crashed his new Lamborghini along a highway early Monday morning and initially reported his car stolen after abandoning the mangled vehicle.

Briggs, speaking to reporters after practice on Tuesday, said he called a tow truck after leaving the scene and then reported that his car was stolen.

"When it happened, the first thing I did was, obviously, I panicked," Briggs said. "I didn't want there to be a big scene there. And so I left the scene. When I left, I called the tow truck. I also was startled, and I called to report that my car was stolen.

"Within probably 10 minutes, I called back and accepted responsibility for what I did because it was ridiculous in the first place."

Illinois Police found the abandoned vehicle, which had hit a light pole and a concrete bridge support, alongside the expressway on the city's North Side around 3:15 a.m.

Briggs was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, a misdemeanor, Illinois State Police said Monday.

While Briggs' car crash remained the main topic of discussion, the Chicago Bears continued to prepare for the preseason-finale against Cleveland.

Im just atonished at the nonchalantness of coach smith and the bears. He's a good player, but not even a suspension for this?" the dude is crashing his car at 3 in the morning when they have a practice at 8am. You would think they have a curfue or something. You don't leave an accident like that with a fuckin lambo unless you did some dirt, period.

I'm not saying he didn't do anything wrong, but what are the facts as of right now?

He was out at 3:00am. Not a crime.
He crashed a car and left the scene of the crash. Misdemeanor. NFL will not suspend for such minor offenses nor should da bears.

You can't suspend a player based on assumptions. No further action is required unless new information comes out. Besides, from what I hear Briggs is a model citizen, never been in trouble with the law and is a team leader on and off the field. His only negative thing to date besides this was his contract dispute but that was a business decision.
