Has your job been affected by the economy? I was at my job for 8 years and have been able to move up through my job year after year i've survived a shit load of lay offs and felt secure during each one til the last 2 I knew my job was gonna get hit soon. Shit sux with the economy now and so many people sitting jobless like myself now but hopefully things change for the better in the near future

I hope your company hooked you up with a good severance package! Also, jump on that unemployment while you can and enjoy it. It's like a paid vacation, especially if you get max benefits from UI. You have paid taxes for the shit all these years, so now it's your turn to get a break and enjoy that money!

My trade got hit hard, all the lower level apprentices all got laid off. It ended up being around a 15% downsize of our LA branch and even though we're union, the companies have to hire the unemployed by their years in the trade. So if you just got in, you're fucked. Times are tough for the construction trades.

Yeah, shit's fucked up throughout the construction fields. Small company or big, shit don't matter. I work for a major worldwide company, (ThyssenKrupp Elevator) and we lost alot of big jobs, especially new construction. Alot of buildings that were approved to go up have either been suspended or outright canceled. It's fucked up.
