For those of you who haven't been on any sports sites or watched any sports channels in the last few hours John Lackey retired 27 straight Oakland batters last night. The first batter he faced, however, was Mark Kotsay who hit a leadoff double in the bottom of the first. Lackey also struck out 10.

Aside from this sick start dude's been a beast all season long. He's second [if you don't count Liriano] in the AL with a 2.88 ERA and has a 1.02 WHIP to go with it. If he had a better record than 7-5 he'd be among the frontrunners for AL Cy Young right now. And after last year's 14-5, 3.44 ERA season it looks like the A-Team got theyselves a top ace for years to come. Add Jered Weaver [5-0, 1.35 ERA, 0.78 WHIP] to the mix and it spells bad news for AL hitters.

It could be bias but with the way our offense is finally starting to pick up it looks like we on our way to our third straight division title. What do the rest of y'all think?
