Actually...im not...you said the MVP should go to the BEST player...well...T-Mac,Kobe and LeBron are the ELITE or BEST players in the league...they have THE most skill and can beat ANYONE....so by the LOGIC of the MVP award...there should only be a handful of candidates every year....cus year in and year out...those players are the best...WHEN THEY ARE HEALTHY...

Marion is a great player...hes one of my favorite...but Kobe couild beat him one on one any day...as could T-Mac...as could LeBron....point in case..
T-mac is'nt one of the top 20 players in 2006,so that makes no sense to me at all.You have to be playing on a court to be good.Your right on the money, there is only a handful of guys every year, unless someone has a better year and becomes an elite player based on his performance.Marion has no need to play anyone one on one(one on one is'nt basketball). How can you accumulate assists, leadership, and setting picks(all part of 5 on 5)and doing other things that help you win by playing one on one?where are you going with this  theory........

KOBE IS GONNA BE REMEMBERED AS THE BEST PLAYER EVER IMO... (EXCEPT BY ALL THE HATERS)... BUT, IMO, HE ISNT THIS YEAR'S MVP...
Put that pipe down and go to look at Michael Jordan's career stats, then go look at Kobe's. The things that Kobe is doing now, Jordan did in his first years in the league. Kobe is averaging 35 ppg and this is his 10th year in the league. Jordan averaged 37.2 ppg in his 3rd year and led his team to the playoffs. So be for real.

I think Kobe is this years MVP and I think he's the best player in the league... but in a one on one match up versus Jordan I'd put my money on Jordan. I think Kobe has more range... but Jordan has the quickness, hops, and hangtime over Kobe. It would be a very competitive match up but Jordan would win.

During the Lakers game they were comparing Kobe and Jordan...I forgot what his name was but dude said that by the end of his career Kobe would be known as the greatest player ever because he is a better shooter, quicker, etc. Pippen and the other guy disagreed and called Kobe the guy's man crush. LoL ...but yeah its definatley possible about kobe being known as the best but definatley not now.

True, but MJ also didn't win 3 championships in his first 5 or 6 years in the league.

Jordan didnt have a dominant center like Shaq on his team either. I get tired of yall usin that bullshit. Kobe didnt LEAD his team to those championships. The situation that Jordan was in before he won his championships, thats the situation that Kobe is in now. Jordan had to learn how to make the players around him better if he wanted to LEAD his team to a championship. Like I said, Kobe is in that same situation now. If yall wanna do the Jordan vs. Kobe comparison, forget about everything that Kobe did with Shaq and start from last year when Kobe became the leader. Kobe will NEVER lead the Lakers to a championship, so therefore, he'll never be nowhere near the level Jordan was on.

Yeah that was Marc Jackson saying Kobe would be better than Jordan. I wouldn't agree with that. I think Jordan was quicker than Kobe though...

backwood you got some original thoughts or are you gonna quote and agree with everyone?

Put that pipe down and go to look at Michael Jordan's career stats, then go look at Kobe's. The things that Kobe is doing now, Jordan did in his first years in the league. Kobe is averaging 35 ppg and this is his 10th year in the league. Jordan averaged 37.2 ppg in his 3rd year and led his team to the playoffs. So be for real.
I think it was you who said earlier that Kobe had Shaq and he didn't own the team. So why would he have to average this much when he had a dominant player on the team with him? MJ didn't so he averaged that much in his third year, now in his 10th year Kobe doesn't so he is averaging this much.
