Well, Roy Williams is a probowler, he's been a payoff.

But, I'm a Lions fan, and Kitna's kind of out of his mind. I see six games, probably. Hopefully they can pull something off, but it never happens, and probably won't happen until they get rid of Millen. It's not like we got any good free agents, and our defense is a hell of a lot weaker than it was last year.

Is Tatum Bell better than Kevin Jones? Doubt it.

Calvin Johnson is the only improvement on this team. But the team had two 1,000 yard recievers last year.

Calvin will probably cause Roy Williams to go off even more than he had before, though, just because of the fact people will actually have to focus on him.

But, I don't really see a problem with a quarterback having high hopes for his team.

Detroit 0-16? LOL.... with Mike Martz as offensive coordinator and Calvin Johnson? Tatum Bell's fast ass. Detroit will cause problems next year.... and we play them first game of the season. I hope our pass defense is ready...

mike martz is a good offensive coordinator, and calvin johnson might help.

but what about tatum bell? he got those numbers he posted up because he was playing behind the broncos offensive line. yeah he is fast, but so what? he might not accomplish much with the lions offensive line.

the lions' offense will probably keep them close in games...

but they will lose many of their games because their defense is garbage.

^ I hear you....we'll see what happens. There will be teams that surprise people then there will be teams that disappoint. This could be a surprise team because they're going to score points.

How do you think your Niners are going to do? Are you one of them sorry as fans that don't believe in your team?
I know the Niners will be good this year based on what we saw last year and the additions that were made this year.. We know what to expect.

Last year I was expecting improvement from the previous year, and that's what I got. I didn't think they would be a playoff team and I didn't even think they would have a winning record.. Why you ask? Because I knew they weren't there yet. Again, we knew what to expect.

Two years ago I didn't have much expectation because the year before that they were the worst team in the league. They had no proven QBs and the whole offense had been picked apart. So, we knew what to expect.

During each of these years I watched every single game and rooted for the team. I wanted them to be successful, but at the same time I knew it wasn't feasible.

I see where you're comng from (in backing the team and having confidence), but there's a certain point where overconfidence turns into idiocy. The Detroit Lions were ass last year, and I wouldn't expect them to do a complete 180 in one season. They didn't make the type of acquisitions that the Saints made when they went from 3-13 to a playoff team. After years and years of losing, what makes Jon Kitna think they will be a playoff team all of a sudden? Calvin Johnson? Please.

The point of this post is this.. Don't let optimism guide you towards homerism (looks like Kitna already did so). You can be a fan and support your team and still keep it real.

^I hear you but didn't you think that Calvin Johnson could have helped the Raiders turn into a contender if they would have signed David Carr?

thascary 1... you don't think Tatum will do good in Detroit? We know they're a pass first offense anyway. I think he'll put up some good stats. I am not comparing Tatum to Marshall in anyway but you seen how Martz used to use Marshall in the passing game when Martz was with the Rams.

Man... I think Detroit will cause problems... their QB is confident and that confidence may rub off on the rest of the team. If the QB believes they'll win more than 10 games then the rest of the locker room should believe it too. They probably will come out gunnin and scoring points like a mf.

I see Detroit finally winning 10 games this year....Im pretty good with predictions in football year in, year out.....I saw that Saints turn around coming a country mile away last year....if Kitna stays healthy(the key), they'll most likely win 10 games on the real........Tatum Bell can suck donkey balls and that's still possible, the acquisition of TJ Duckett is one of the most slept on moves in the offseason without question

Tatum can't catch either...he is a small speed back who needs holes to open for him. Faulk at least had skills...tatum not so much

he dances too much to hit small holes, trips himself more often than not, and can't hold onto the ball, running or trying to catch it.

good riddance...and we got a starting db for him.....lol

I do see Tony's point tho. the qb is (or at least should be) the leader of the team, and you want that person to be confident in their squad and themselves. it also boosts morale for the fans. If Russell came out saying the same shit the Raiders organization would see an influx of money and support for the team. Same with Alex Smith. If y'all seen him talking about "The 9ers are going to win more than 10 games" all of y'all (9er fans) would be behind him 100% and believe every word of it. things like that are needed, especially in organizations that are faultering.

There would be reason to believe. That is not the case in Detroit. It wouldn't be the case in Oakland either.

Now if Tom Brady came out and predicted at least 10 wins there would be reason to believe it. But if Charlie Frye came out and predicted 10 wins.. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't find any reason to buy into it whether I was a Browns fan or not. Same with Detroit.. They consistantly suck nuts. What makes you think they will turn it around? Their offense will put up just enough points for their defense to lose the game for them.

What is needed is talent. This is not some underdog movie here.. Passion is not what is going to win them 10 games.

Exactly!
