When did he tap? I saw him give a thumbs up a couple of times, but didn't see him tap
I'm transferring from my Tivo right now and will post it on Youtube... I don't think they showed it on the replay. It was right before they cut to the EXTREME ZOOM OUT for NO REASON...

its run by a fat former boxing promoter, what did you expect?

shit, most of them looked liked a work to me. First televised show on CBS, you think Kimbo, Carano or Lawler would lose?

its aight though, at least tomorrow there'll be some legit competition with the WEC so I dont have to think about this garbage for long
This was too obvious... I don't think they can compete pullin shit like this.

That didn't look like a thumb up to me. They called it that... But it didn't look like it... Then they cut away hella far away for no reason... Then all of a sudden he was out of it...

Bullshit

and his son Jared Shaw, who's the VP, doesnt look too bright either in his interviews giving too much credit to Kimbo treating him like he's the champ. Its a joke from the start when their so-called main guy is a raw fighter.
Yep. And in the other thread I mentioned how one of the announcers compared Kimbo to OSCAR DE LA HOYA and TIGER WOODS. They are/were trying WAY TOO HARD to sell the product. I mean, Kimbo was 2-0, against Ray Mercer who was a 46 year old EX-boxer and some other bum, and they calling him ODH/Tiger Woods?!?? that's crazy and insulting not only to them, but to other MMA fighters that put in years of work and training.

Though knowing how EliteXC is ran, they'll probably dont give a fuck and keep feeding him cans just as long they're making money off him
You're prob right. I think they are relying on Kimbo, I heard they are down like $30 mil or $50 mil or something like that. Basically Kimbo is there one shot at making it.

Yeah, I was like WTF?

I know what you're talkin about though. But I mean, it's pretty tough to confuse a thumbs up for a tap considering he had already done the "thumbs up when you think I'm in trouble" thing in the first round

*shrugs*

If he really tapped, the raw footage will make itself available soon enough

If they didn't zoom out like that for no reason I might buy it as a thumb up... But that soon after he was in that much trouble......

http://www.bleacherreport.com/articles/26458-EliteXC-fixed-Kimbo-Slice-wins-a-rigged-match

The Elite XC event on CBS on May 31, was rigged for Kimbo Slice to win. James Thompson was set up to lose that fight from the beginning. So much hype was put into Kimbo Slice for this event that losing would be a major upset that EliteXC was not willing to lose. So to make sure he won this fight, they gave him an opponent that has lost his last two matches when more capable fighters were out their and willing to fight him.

Thompson was clearly at a disadvantage in the stand up game and looked like he would be knocked out, but he took down Kimbo every time and got around Kimbo's so called ground game and got the upper hand. In the first round, Kimbo was pinned against the cage receiving elbow after elbow to the face. They may not have been very strong, but none the less, Kimbo was not defending himself just getting bashed in the face. Ref should have stepped in at that time and called the match for a TKO. Then in the second round, Thompson is hit with a punch by Kimbo that bursts a cyst on his ear from case of cauliflower ear. The match was stopped, even though Thompson was still standing and still moving on his feet. The bleeding was no where close to the eyes, and unless this guy has HIV ,if so he shouldn't be fighting anyway, then there was no reason to stop the fight.

Unless there is some medical reason that he had to stop fighting because of his ear, then that fight was clearly rigged. They have destroyed the face of MMA, especially on PRIME TIME TV. This is no longer a sport, this was BS pro wrestling match with the fights outcome already planned. Everyone who is watching MMA for the first time is now thinking, s what MMA is all about.

I still believe that Kimbo is a backyard brawler with his one skill of throwing a punch. Even against second rate fighters he struggles. Put him against a real fighter from the UFC like Tim Silvia or Randy Coulture and watch him be demolished by people who are professionals.

Not to mention Kimbo took like 30 straight punches + elbows to the face without defending himself without getting the fight called...

I feel kinda bad for him... He went from nothin to somethin and it's probably all people behind the scenes making him look bad without his knowledge...

yeah, I never saw a fight stopped when someone was still on his feet. The referee usually waits til he drops first to make a decsion. Either that or its stopped due medical stoppage, but that is up to the doctor, not the ref especially since it was a matter of blood and not a broken bone.
In boxing the only time a cut can stop the fight is if it's near the eye, which can cause serious damge. I've seen dudes with huge cuts on their heads, cheeks, etc. just gushin out blood, no problem, fight goes on. I thought MMA worked the same way.

But honestly though I've never ever seen an ear explode so I don't know the medical dangers involved in that, so I can't really call it.

...and yeah, the chick fight was better than expected... They need some practice though.
I think a lot of it had to do with the fact she didn't look like a fighter, she had a pretty face or whatever so you expect her to get beat down by the butch chick, but the opposite happened, so it increased the coolness of that fight.

Carano? Yeah, I'd let her ground n pound me

but anyways, she's a pure striker...as matter of fact the whole televised card was strikers. Which is bad considering its Mixed Martial Arts and they didnt do a good job of showcasing the different styles. Its almost a glamourized kickboxing match with no submission/ground game at all.

EliteXC on CBS = Epic failure
well I think the idea was to put on "exciting" fights for the casual fan, since it's on CBS. And to the casual fan, that typically means a brawl. When the crowd booed during the fight prior to Kimbo, one of the announcers said, "Fans are booing, they want more excitement. This is MMA, not Boxing where there is non-stop action for 12 rounds." So I think that statement kinda shows what type of crowd was there or whatever, basically casual fans or people that don't have much experience watching MMA
