i dont care how big of a fan base they have, there all weirdos. so that dont count to me.. even tho it does on the soundscan.lol. fuck icp
Well, comment back when you can use the proper words in a sentence. Maybe then you're opinion will be valid.

Also, ICP doesn't promote like they used to. They just put up on their website that they're going to be dropping an album. Mainly because they have a pretty big following, and they're happy with their sales. They also sell a shit load of albums through themselves (at shows and on their web store, I don't think a bands personal web store counts for sales. I could be wrong, but I don't think so). They sell their new albums for like $6-10 for a couple weeks when they release.

Not wrong.. Ringmaster only went gold through Island.. i don't know what dude was posting.. Look it up at the RIAA website.
Uh that site is very slow at updating it's information and doesn't even have Lil Wayne's new album as platinum yet.

It most certainly went gold twice.

I wonder where ICP would have been sales wise had there note been any hoopla surrounding Disney/Hollywood pulling The Great Milenko.

No doubt they'd sell and have a big following. But it was controversy that put htem on the national map.

Maybe Tech needs some controversy? :D

The only thing the Hollywood Records drama helped them out with was getting a better nationwide deal. However if you look prior to that, Hollywood was a nationwide deal and they were going to back ICP. They spent a hell of a lot of money on them.

Without the controversy, ICP was going to be pushed anyway. Because Milenko sure as fuck didn't have a hot week on the charts. It just stayed steady by word of mouth, eventually becoming (at the time) the longest staying rap album in the Billboard 200 in sound scan history.

It was because of their talent why they sold. If it wasn't their back catalog wouldn't have sold, AJB wouldn't have debuted @ #4 and they wouldn't be running a business 10 years later and still making ridiculous amounts of money. Some small ounce of controversy can only help so much and if that's all their success was, their bubble would have bursted with and only with Milenko. A true one hit wonder. But according to facts, that's simply not the case.

Releases aren't eligible for certification until it's been in release for 30 days. Thus, while he sold 1,000,000 in his first week, earliest it could be certified is a month after it's release date.

Let me get this clear. What is the exact reason you guys hate ICP? If its because they suck, then thats fucking stupid.

As for the whole "ICP is the reason Tech hasn't blown up" shit is stupid. I didn't see it hurt Snoop Dogg, Ice T, ODB, 3 6 Mafia (who did all kinds of shit with Psychopathic) and has won a grammy after their work with Psychopathic, Bone Thugz, D12, E40, Kid Rock- The list goes on. All of those people seem to be doing pretty good.
Maybe (before I say this- Tech is my favorite rapper) its Tech or Strange Music's fault for not blowing up. Maybe they're not as great as all of you think they are. Juggalos think Psychopathic is the best shit ever, and none of you agree.
I know a lot of people that think Tech is straight garbage/overrated (non juggalos).

Go ahead and hate Juggalos. Let them stop listening to Tech, then we'll see how many records he sells, or how much money he makes so he can turn it around into another album. He wasn't exactly on the doorstep of Mtv before he hooked up with Psychopathic.
Those artists were superstars before they worked with ICP. I guarantee you that if Snoop started his career and shortly after developed a REAL relationship with ICP and a juggalo fanbase, he would not have been NEARLY as successful in the mainstream as he is now. No movies, hardly any black fans. And people from his hood who believed in him would say, what the fuck is Snoop thinking and they would write him off as lost, which is alot of what Tech's fans have done.

Right or wrong, it is what has happened, and that is why Tech wants those fans back.

But at the same time its kinda like fuck them fans, because there are so many of us that take the time to know what he is really about, but fans are fans and they will like what they like.

Kid Rock wasn't a star when he started doing shit with ICP. I still think that a majority of you are just looking to point the finger somewhere to lay the blame on, and Psychopathic is the easiest target because they're different. Tech is different too, that is why he hasn't blown up and became mainstream. Tech didn't look like the average black rapper (he's tried to change that, but its too late). Its Tech's fault, not ICP or Psychopathic. They didn't talk him into painting his face, and wearing red spikey hair. That is one of the main reasons why they put him on the Wicked Wonka tour, because he was different like them, and like it or not- he fit in.

Black fans (which who honestly gives a shit, a majority of rap consumers in the US are white anyways) turned against him way before he hooked up with ICP. Sorry buddy, nice try though.

It did go Gold Twice.

I remember them talking about how the RIAA wouldn't re-certify it, or some shit.
So... It went gold through the RIAA twice, but the RIAA won't certify it the second time? Doesn't make sense.. The RIAA decides whats gold and platinum.

And the site isn't that out of date.. It has the Jeckel Bros Platinum Certification which is from last year... The Ringmaster supposed second gold certification is from 2004 or whatever, even though the RIAA website, which controls the whole gold and platinum certification states that the Ringmaster for the first time went gold that year.

Black fans didn't turn on tech until anghellic came out. People didn't like the fact he was playing with religion. And as far as wearing face paint goes Tech was doing that in the nutthowze days if not earlier. It was probably before he even knew who ICP was.

Disco -

"Talent" is not the same as "appeal".

I'm not going to hate on the fact that they've sold a butt ton of records and I'll always be the only guy in my circle of friends that knows half the words to the Great Milenko.

But let's be honest...ICP appeals to disaffected suburban middle and upper-middle class white kids with yuppie parents who place consumerism over family. It's a demographic who's parents pay them off with money and allowances instead of love and affection...thus it's a demographic with a huge amount of expendible "income" that they can spend on merch and music so that they share in a sort of collective effervescence with their juggalo "family".

Not that Tech doesn't appeal to that demographic too, but he also appeals to others that ICP does not.

totally OT. anyway....end rant. :)

Any alternative band has kids like that who make up a large portion of their fan base.

That wouldn't describe me or my family at all.

And I'm sure other ICP fans on this board would argue that generalization as well.

That goes very much against who ICP claims to represent. Not that you are, or aren't correct, but ICP doesn't ever claim to represent ANYBODY with ANY "expendible" income. They've ALWAYS represented the broke scrubs.

Hey fuck you buddy.

You Johnny come lately ICP lovin mothafuckas think you know so much. Shit happened the way it did and I am happy for Tech AS A FRIEND for the success that the juggalo explosion brought into his life. Understand this though, the shit was gonna happen anyway. Believe that. Travis O'guin and Tech's work ethic would have eventually made him a star regardless.

Maybe you don't care about the black fans, but Tech does, and the image that alot of you guys like isnt Tech at all. He said it himself, his hair reflected how his brain felt at the time. The face paint is a tribute to his AFRICAN ancestors, he should fucking care about his people, you stupid fuck.
