Nelly had the hometown support and that's how he blew up on the national level because his hometown pushed his shit on the radio and what not.
kansascity has always been on some hater shit when it comes to local artists in the media and on the radio. That's why kc artists havn't gone nationwide yet on that major scale. In order to explode the support will have to come from everywhere first then kc media will be wantin the chance to suck off the big hometown star. Thats the only way the home town support will flip flop in my opinion.

Detroit is a lot like that too.
They didnt play ANY of Em until Dre's beats got behind his flow.
Didnt fuck with Obie until Em got him on.
Didnt spin Trick until Eminem did a song with him.
Didnt play Kid Rock until he put a rock band behind his music.
and out of Esham recording over 300 songs that have been bangin for over a decade, they played 1 as a radio single for about 2 months.
Then to piss me off the most, I hear 2 local rap groups who come hard as fuck with their lyrics and beats... and I hit up the radio station website, they got NO MENTION at all of local artists or songs other than mainstream big deal artists. Ill post up the two songs Im thinking of if I ever get a hold of 'em, shit is gangster as hell.
