I think unless somebody who's been in the game for a long time and still feel like they have a chance of having national success then, they should be doing their best to give their contacts and doors that were opened for them to new up and coming potential break out artist! Just my opinion. Realize when some one has potential to be bigger than you and don't try to suppress it and stunt their growth. Instead help them realize their full potential. Example the helping hand Digital underground gave to Pac!

IMO their was alot of good Hyphy music. Their was just more really BAD Hyphy music. The tracks FAB had on Son of a Pimp all slapped. Mac Dre, Keak, The Team,Federation and 40 all made slapping ass hyphy music. Even Short came hard with Shake That Monkey. But I agree once our Area became mainstream goofy and continued to call it the cousin of Crunk. It was done period. It was and should have stayed Hyphy never cousin to Crunk. It lost its own identity when that happened. As far as star power Ya Boy and FAB if he can stay making music like I found my backpack. Awax and ERK are dope also. Curious to see if Love Rance can follow up with another single. Beat the pussy up has the streets and clubs going.

I respect your opinion Bruh! But, in mine, Fab is a joke. Besides, he died with hyphy! The majors never dropped him once he got signed. He does have a personality...But, IMO his music and his voice is whack!
truth right there. he had an opportunity when he really had the media attention, but then despite his obvious talent on the mic the fact he's a lightweight corny dude just came shining through

I just dont like how Hyphy was goin big then suddenly everyone got all self-consious & ashamed & ishh.. Then we abandoned our own ishh jus when the rest of the country was feelin it... dat was hella gay to me...
alot of cats got ashamed because that shit didn't really reflect the core of the bay. in the streets of the bay from east oakland to antioch to wherever. shits not a joke with bright colors. the bay is one of the few places in the world, where wigs get split in whats supposed to the suburbs. dudes should have found a way to update mobb music and give it a fresh twist instead of that manufactured hyphy movement

other than 40 water/mac dre/the team hyphy was just on some goofy shit. seeing fab in that ghostbusters video was embarrassing. it held peoples attention for a moment and then it was on to the next one.
Pretty sure it was "on to the next one" due to the negative press it received (all of the ghost riding injuries/deaths). If that hadn't happened I think it would have continued.

I agree with Bossflossy...The Bay alone has 3 of the world top 25 most danger cities to live in! The Sco, The O and the Rich! And, you can drive to and through each of them in about 30 to 45 minutes. So, you got all of these hitters living in close proximity...that's a problem! But, you took the opportunity during the Bay's 15 mins off fame to talk about jumping on cars, ghost riding and alot of corny ass talk! #Wow That's when the nigga lost me!

Hyphy to me was entertainment. Your not hyphy 24/7 but sometimes when your havin FUN shit be hyphy. I don't think it was meant to be goofy. But it just let people have fun for once instead of bein hard all the damn time. For people to believe that it portrayed the almighty bay area image was what killed it. And there was plenty of slaps in the hyphy movement along with some bullshit. But shit people were tryin to cash in. Thats what the bay is about. Hustlin. Too stay on topic though. 40 and Too Short are the lone heavy hitters as far as mainstream rap is concerned.

To be honest, Hyphy was Oakland and the East Bay to me.. Frisco we was never really hyphy, we fucked with the movement cuz it was Bay love, but we was on our own lane with Rich, Quinn, and Evenodds just to name a few..

I'll admit, F.A.B. has been pushing nationwide for the past few years. However, I feel like he's tried to experiment with movements that contradict what I believed he represented.
To kinda support this, I forgot about the Nardwaur interview where he mentioned Shaboobalaboopy being a satire to music today, when I figured that was him contributing to the hyphy scene.

Yup! And the Bay Area artists of the past spent many years, and many tears creating that brand and style of music that truly reflected what The Bay was about (Mobb Music). The entire world was given a picture of what it was like to live in The Bay. They FELT us... and our sales reflected that...

Hey, I wasn't mad at Hyphy per se... it was just as legitimate an art form as any other, the problem was that everybody and their momma jumped on board and abandoned our established roots with the hopes of cashing in. By doing that, we not only betrayed ourselves, we betrayed our Local, National, and International fan bases. In their eyes we went from Pimps & Players to Clowns and Jiggaboos... and I mean like OVERNIGHT.

To be honest, Hyphy was Oakland and the East Bay to me.. Frisco we was never really hyphy, we fucked with the movement cuz it was Bay love, but we was on our own lane with Rich, Quinn, and Evenodds just to name a few..
C'mon now don't break your back tryna distance yourself from it NOW... Sco was just as guilty as everywhere else...

Sorry, I can't agree with you on this one. Dues musty be paid. Otherwise you take the chance that these up and comers you speak of will take for granted a legacy that took much time and effort to build, and squander it... much as Hyphy, squandered Mobb Music's legacy...

Oh, and by the way, I 'd like to say that I use the name "Mobb Music" for those who would like an easy way to compartmentalize what I would normally call "The Sound Of The Bay", cause even the forerunners of rap in the bay area had "That Sound" that will forever be associated with the Bay...
