I'm with Nonstop and Syko here... I'm just saying, lets stop pretending like there is original content cause thats just another way of dickriding your favorite rapper by calling his nemesis unoriginal. And I wish we could stop analyzing the music, but that's all we fuckin do around here, especially on the internet, is analyze and then proceed to hate on the next man, it's fuckin annoying. So I'm here to set the record straight. NONE OF US are original so get over it. And no Doug/Ryan, Bonoho is not original. He sure as shit has an original style, and at times like the rest of us comes up with some original lines, some of us might even come up with an original song from time to time, but tell me when the last original hip hop album dropped? Can you name one? If you do it's probably going to have to be the very first hip hop album. Somewhere along the line someone said "hip hop builds on itself" which is probably just an excuse. As an artist how many times have you caught yourself making the same record you yourself or someone else has already made? I think if we all dig a little deeper next time we catch ourselves doing that, it will make this thang we call hip hop stronger instead of weaker. I mean check it, have you ever noticed how we all come up with songs? We hop in the studio, find a beat, blow a blunt/tip back a fourty, come up with a chorus, write some verses which may or may not relate to the song maybe a few bars relate or even half the bars relate but you know its a rarety for all 16 bars to really be about the chorus of the song which is by the way the main point of the song, then recording begins and is usually rushed. Songs take like two hours to do. That's a recipe for quantity. STEP IT UP!!!!!!! I'm not singling nobody out here either, WE ALL DO THIS, it's what we've come to know, but it is time to step it up, so my pledge is that I'm going to step up all aspects of my game to try and build this NW thang into something so little faggots quit talking about our town like we ain't the top of the west. TOP OF THE WEST, we NORTH WEST of everything else thats weak. KNOW ABOUT THAT!

all crunk music is rappers with southern acents and a fast high hat with yelling on a hook
THANK YOU, for saying that. Finally someone agrees with me!!! Wanna make a dirty south beat? Here's the recipe: Set the tempo to 75-80, add a really bassy kick, an 808 clap, quantize your high hats at 1/32nd all the way through, add your melody sounds and you've just made a dirty south beat. LMMFAO.

Before every rapper gets in here and starts trying to take a bite out of my ass, If it's not clear yet, when I say an artist isn't original I'm talking about the content of the lyrics and the meaning of the song. Sooooooooo chill out. This is entertainment, so realistically speaking I don't want someone to start talking about original shit. I tell ya, I do not want to hear some fruit cake rappin about crammin cocks into his mouth just so he can be original. LMAO.

^ Awww hell I was just trying to get into a debate, I'm hella bored and hella sick still. I got the super flu, LMMFAO. I often argue the devils advocate position just for shits and giggles when theres nothing else to do. I mean hell theres multiple flaws to the no one is original because everything has already been said idea. But it sure makes a good debate!

I guess somebody should tell all these people making love songs to stop......since that's "unoriginal" too.

:dead: :dead: :dead:

Subject matter doesn't change folks....the presentation of it does. The point of this thread was that people in the NW are tryin' to "SOUND" like other people.....which I can agree with to a point. But there are people out here who have original sounds and are tryin' to breathe fresh air into the industry......but you know it's an uphill battle when you're different.

I remember when everybody thought E-40 was wack......now he's a legend. Go figure. Blaze your own trail and stay true to yourself. Study the competition.....but don't follow them.

what are y'all thoughts on this? and I dunno others standpoints as far as not being from out here, but is this how other muhfuckas view us??
I think ya'll gettin' a little sensitive. If dude wouldn't have tried to be funny with that corny ass joke then the nigga wouldn't have said shit about the NW. He just said that shit to get a reaction, and with this thread, mission accomplished.

personally.......i do think that the NW has a distinct sound......to me itz sort of a gangsta funk hustler combo.......kinda remindz me the early 90'z West Koast Gangsta that the west has got away from, mixed with the speedy flow of early 90'z Chicago (Bone, Twista, Crucial Conflict).....itz a gumbo of stylez that go great 2gether IMO........itz made every other area pretty much unlistenable to me

I wouldn't say "sensitive" at all.. I posted the thread to see what others thought about it.. especially coming from this region and there have been many different opinions on it. Some feel there's no originality, some feel there is. The kid who made the statement didn't say it for a reaction, he said it because he got sensitive about the Fat Joe comment.

What makes you believe that? I completely disagree but I'll give you the chance to convince me (and everyone else who's skeptical) otherwise.
THE REASON I SAY "ITS JUST A MATTER OF TIME" IS BECAUSE ALOT OF PEOPLE FROM OUT OF STATE ARE STARTING TO REALLY BUMP THIS N.W. MUSIC,BUY VERSES,BEATS AND THERE STARTING TO PUT US ON COMPILATIONS.I REMEMBER LIKE 3 YEARS AGO I WASNT SEEING NOTHIN FROM THE NORTHWEST ON THESE OUT OF STATE COMPS.NOW WE GOT PEOPLE LIKE 151 WHOS MAKING MAJOR MOVES IN THIS RAP GAME ALONG WITH COOL NUTZ AND TO MANY MORE TO NAME.IM JUST SAYING ITS A MATTER OF TIME.IM NOT GONNA NAME DROP BUT CANT YOU REMEMBER WHEN YOUR FAVORITE ARTIST CAME OUT WITH A BANGIN ALBUM AND HIS PLACE OF LIVING WASNT THAT POPULAR UNTIL PEOPLE STARTED TO GET HIP TO HIS REGION.GREAT MUSIC CANT BE DENIED FOREVER.MUCH LOVE TO THE WHOLE NORTHWEST.

Shit, I missed out on good arguing! lol...I'd say that most people in the NW aren't original, but there is always someone with a unique/original quality, whether it be beats, delivery, whatever...Obviously the same topics have been talked about, its that way with every kind of music. So there's no point to try to argue otherwise, anyone saying that someone has an orignal topic for a song, is a liar. Every subject known to man has probably been rapped about. HOWEVER. The NW puts out good music overall. There's always gonna be the people that are wack, but for the most part the region produces very good music. Now, its really up to the fans (people that buy the music) to decide if it's going to be popular or not. Most people don't know SHIT about NW rap, that's the problem. People are sleepin' on shit that's tighter than what they're jockin from their own back yard, but they're too busy swingin to realize it.

I don't give a fuck what anyone says, give it time and artists from the NW will be making major moves...oh wait, THAT'S ALREADY HAPPENING. Let me rephrase that then, give it time and the NW will be a new crackin rap scene on the map...Once all the ignorant, hating, little bitches stop talkin shit and sayin that the NW isn't original. No shit, but nowhere else is either. Fat Joe sure as FUCK isn't original, or hella cats from Cali, especially the bay, most people have the same fuckin sound. At least with the NW not everyone sounds the same.
